As I have said before, in my opinion you are better than a lot of the charities - you pick up scraps of (as you said) rubbish and do your best to turn them into something that can be a useful working pony - what most people want. If you can't you take the responsibility of having them pts. How you do it, is up to you, and Potters is a well run place to go to.

By doing this you give them every chance of going on to have a good life in a home where they are appreicated, rather than ending up at Spindles Farm type places, or loaded with dope or bute to the sales where they are on a downward spiral of no hope in most cases.

Keep on doing what you are doing - and ignore those who really don't have a concept of true life. There is not enough money or people to rescue all the sad cases.

JM, I've never met you, never seen your horses and ponies, but have seen a few of your posts on here and you come across as having a sound knowledge of equines and a genuine love of them.

For some people a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, and there are many people in the equine world like that, you are not one of them!

I don't think it should be anyone elses business b ut yours, don't let it get to you. You sound responsible to me and unfortunately there are too many people who are far to sensative. Someone has to deal with the problems.

I am appalled to see that you have had to make such a post. I admire you in what you do, non of this 'we must save it no-matter-what' crap. I applaud you for doing what you do and for posting about it, not trying to hide it.
I am part of the huge group that supports you here, and I too feel maybe some naming, although that is maybe sinking low??

Taking ponies to the abattoir is shocking to some people, especially if there were an alternative option of expensive treatment. Usually people to whom their ponies are total pets and are not required to either serve a purpose or be sellable for a profit.

IMO- which is probably worthless, but its mine anyway.....

......you appear to do your best for these ponies..

...... some of them may be found good homes- good on you..
.......some of them may be unable to be saved/too ill/past it etc...and end up being PTS. Again - good on you.....
........when you do your best for your horses and ponies then having them PTS is always one of the options.

Anyone who leaves a horse to suffer needlessly, because they cant be strong enough to do whats needed is a coward....because it takes a strong person to know what needs doing however upsetting it may be.

And if they can't post on a public forum and say what they think ...then yes, they are cowards and I wouldnt wast my day thinking about it.

I've lurked for years on here but really only fairly recently started posting regularly. Through all the 4 years I've been on here the thing that has struck me most about JM07 is that she provides balanced, unbiased, unflowery advice, you may not like it but it's straightforward and concise as well as being sensible and in the best interest of the horse. From what I know I would be happy for her to have my horse - and it is unheard of for me to make that statement!

I do not post much but feel awful that this has happened to you. These are cowardly people who are best ignored but I am sure it must be awful to recieve these pms. I do not know you but you seem kind knowledgable and honest. My daughter and I said the other day if we were looking for a dealer we would ask you first!
Sorry you had to justify yourself on here like this.

You'd take a cow to the abatoir so why not a horse..

JM as most people have already said... You do the best your can for your animals. And share you experiences.. I respect you greatly.

Who ever sent these PM's should come clean.. We want to hear your side with out any abuse!

I think you have a tendancy to say exactly what you think, which to some people causes offence - i personally dont think the offending members actually have a view on what you do just because it is you they are just causing a stir!
Only my opinion, and i know you certainly made a strong impression when i joined, however i've slept and forgotten sinse then but some people don't.
This is just an opinion not slating anyone, as to be completely honest i didn't know what you did until you posted this! And both my ponies have come from dealers and as you all know i think both mine are amazing, just to prove i personally have nothing against them!

Just wanted to add my twopenny worth in support of JM. When will some people realise that it is far better for a pony to be pts than passed through sale after sale because it has problems, and probably ending its days in pain with some "horse lover" who can't bear the thought of putting it out of its misery.

I keep my boys at Jm's yard. The care she gives all the ponies in her care is excellent, they want for nothing.

The poor pony in question was so sore it really was the kindest thing for him.
