Heard on the radio earlier that Katie is riding at Hoys, doing a dressage display which she is currently working on with her trainer (Andrew I presume). She promises a wow performance.

Great for the horse world, interest will be sky high I should imagine

Make a change from the usual interval performances!

She has ordered a new pink suede saddle from wow, pink jacket, pink hat, pink boots and pink gloves. Think the saddle cloth might be pink too! With pink feathers around the edge!

It will go down a treat with the BD peeps!!!

Good for her. Hopefully it will take some of the stuffiness out of the BD brigade.
And, even better, she wont get her baps out or show her pants like the BSJA lot have resorted to.
Nice bit of good clean fun entertainment....

Apparently she has decided to call her horse "The B****cks" because she thinks the controversy will be funny at dressage competitions *rolls eyes*

will certainally be a refreshing change for the dressage world, and may spark some interest amongst younger riders.

LOL!

She said she is riding Jordan's Glamour Girl at HOYS so will await a name change submission!

Dozzie - is that true or are you having a giggle? I certainly wouldn't put it past her!

Based on what we've seen of her riding 'Jordans Glamour Girl' thus far....i think she might be better off trying to show the BSJA girls what to do

Yup - there goes another decent aff. dr. venue

Assuming she has purchased that centre then I expect that the facilities will get better. She may not have the knowledge to run the place herself, but like her or loathe her, she is professional in whatever venture she goes into & makes it a success. She will no doubt employ the best people she can to run it & will invest the time & money to make it a place of excellence.

She has had horses for most of her life & now she is in a position to fulfil a dream that many have, to have your own equestrian centre. I am not a fan of hers but I think she will work hard to elevate the centre into a great venue.

I think I have to agree with Toby_Zaphod

Like her or loathe her you cannot deny she is an astute business woman and tends to make a success of what she turns her hand too with a lot of hard work

Agreeing with the above - you can't deny she likes to succeed, isn't afraid to spend her money, and no doubt has a point to prove if she has embarked on this venture. Odds are she won't do it the way everyone wants but then that can be said of just about any person who goes out on a limb.

As far as "modernising" . . . the horse sports are always moaning that they need to attract more attention. Can't have it both ways.

I suspect a great many new people have heard about dressage in the last few months just because of her than. Not my cup of tea but it takes all kinds.

Besides, on the lowering the tone argument, look at that sj campaign!!! In some ways I think that's worse - KP doesn't pretend to have a serious image but sj just threw theirs all away for a picture of girls in their knickers. And look at the popularity of selling calendars with half naked (or more . . .er less) riders in fund raising efforts. Apparently the people already in the club are fine with "sex sells" so long as it gets the numbers up (although I'm not sure that even works). At least she's honest about what she's doing.

Can anyone think of an equestrian discipline where the tone has not been lowered below floor level?
Only I have two daughters ...........

maybe so, but they are usually cheerful looking chavvy ramblers on horseback, unlike some other disciplines where the competitors look as though they've had a sense of humour bypass

I agree Rambo!

Although the publicity will be good for the sport, I think it's likely it will be more about Jordan than the sport itself which isn't so good.

I think it's a shame that someone who has money and is famous can ride at HOYS just because of who they are, yet some people in the horse world have worked so hard for years with a goal of achieving this aim. I just think it's a bit unfair really.

(Before anyone says, this is not sour grapes (I don't show) but I know people in the showing world that work so hard and I think this is a bit of a mockery really).

Its a valid piont that it may be more about Jordan than the sport and that other people have worked so hard to get to do what she has walked into... HOWEVER... if these means that people tune into horse sports more, even if its just to see 'fit birds' they may well end up actually watching the sport as well. More viewers and more support means more money and a higher profile which the people who have put in all that work will benefit from with higher/better sponsorship deals, higher prize money and more limelight. I know its not the ideal and more 'dignified' way to get the sport out there but if it means more people watching surely that can't be a bad thing.

I also think she'll do a great job with Medstead. She is always wildly successful in what she does even if you don't particularly agree with what she does. She's not stupid.

Agreed.
She does set her mind and stick to it whatever business venture she is on.
