I agree Kitsune, and am surprised by the vitriolic comments regarding Katie Price here. Some of you have been venomous!
Ok, so i do not like the range, no one is forcing us to buy or look at it!
She may have unrealistic ideas about competing in the olympics, and have been insensitive to those who have to work their guts out with unmade horses to get there. She will never be an academic and has no social graces. I also would not class her work as shameful, as someone called it, so she gets her tits out, so what?
As far as i know she has never done porn. I do not think she deserves these comments.

Just as you cant help your dyslexia, Katie can't help the fact she designs a type of clothing you dont like.

I dont like her range, and I think her dressage displays looked tacky in all the sequins and OTT make up. I dont like her plastic "barbie doll" look, I'm sure there's a very real and nice enough person beneath it though.

But

I would not begrudge her a thing, she came from a fairly ordinary background and has bought the horse of her dreams, I'm sure many of us would do the same if we could. I doubt she'll be in the olympics though.

Remember people, everytime she does something its in a magazine blown up to make it more interesting (engagement, wedding, children, relationship problems.) Its just another "thing" to add in that shes heading for olympic glory.

People may not like that she made her money in glamour modelling but its not illegal. Its just another job. Some people may not like it, but thats neither here nor there because she's not doing anything wrong. She makes adult pictures for adult viewers. I dont understand why its such a huge issue, makes me cringe but she can do as she pleases so long as no-one is being hurt!
 
For all she is a good business woman she is most definitely an acquired taste! Hence the fact I feel that:

a) She should not be on the front cover of the DH catalogue - I had 6 delivered two day - tore off front covers immediately!

b) Her clothing range should only be available as a separate supplement to the catalogue that is completely optional!

c) She should be on a separate trade stand at events not the DH one - I didn't venture there at Burghley purely due to her presence!

Also anyone else think she has a whopping share in DH other aspects of the catalogue look as if they have also had her influences imo.

As you have probably guessed I am personally not a fan but then again I don't feel I am in the minority!
 
plus if you are so against her, and buying her stuff, it'll be hard
No more Derby House - they stock her range and pay her
No more ASDA - they stock her pyjamas and underwear
No Panache underwear - they make her bras

so if you are so against her, you need to watch out for those, as in effect, if you shop at Derby House, your money goes to them, who then pay Katie

whilst not a fan of the clothing, nor really the person... i can't say i think she deserves the kind of attack she's getting from some people!

you can't slate a girl for making money, like someone said, don't hate the player, hate the game... people are buying the stuff!

also, regarding being a glamour model... i'm sure there are many people in the horsey world who have made their money in a far less ethical way...!

There is a girl in my area who funds her horses in a far more sordid way! I have nothing against derby house, if it makes business for them, then they care about their bottom line at the end of the day.
Personally, i don't give a sh*t. People are being so 'holier than thou'. Are you really all so shocked by a pretty girl with a boob job? Get over yourselves.
 
I think what people object to is her trying to be a role model to young girls(just like Madonna trying to be diddnt sit well with anyone old enough to remember her sex book).

I still think she should have been an owner,he could have bought some really classy horses for some really good riders who would then have gone out winning on them getting her the lime light she craves without putting herself in the fireing line as a rider but hey ho,death or glory right?She must like being shot at,keeps doing things to get shite over...
There is a market and it will sell,my sons godmother is 16,saw the DH catalogue and went nuts over it(then threw it away in disgust when she spotted it was horse stuff

But imo this brand has far more linked to it - at the end of the day everyone will to some extent judge her on her past - she can't just stop being Jordan overnight!

I have nothing against her making her money this way but there are plenty of other brands that DH stock that could be on that front cover. From their point of view I know they feel they are exploiting their individuality by doing this put they also portraying their most controversial brand as their main one. It won't stop me buying from DH but I do feel that they would help themselves by going about this in an alternative manner.

I feel that the reason most people begrudge her is due to the fact that normally riders get to the olympics then bring out a clothing range but if she'd rather do things differently then that's up to her entirely.

TBH I think DH will probably sell 10x more to young girls who pester mum for something from the KP range, having seen that front cover, than the likes of the rest of us who glance at the catalogue and then carry on buying from Equestrian Clearance / local tack shop / etc...

I don't see the problem. Economically, things are tough out there and companies are doing all they can to survive. If DH survives by promoting and selling (the latter being the point of the promotion) the KP range then at least it might mean they have a chance of coming out of the recession in tact.

It's all about shifting volume and making money, at the end of the day. The only thing DH will care about it making their projected sales revenue, and they won't care whether that is made up 100% of people buying KP or anything else.

Now now please don't brand all daughters with the same brush! Mine doesn't like blingy Barbie tat at all - her favourite jodhs are navy with dark pink, and they match her navy with dark pink top. Her other pair of jodhs are pale blue and navy and match the blue Harry Hall top and fleece she chose for Christmas. Very tasteful. Her bestest friend at riding school either wears yellow or green - never pink.

I think this has thread has gone slightly off course, if you go back to my original post, I merely said the clothes were naff, which they are.

I like all the Joules clothes and other bright colourful clothes for Spring and Summer, but this range just somehow isn't right.

I do think that Katie Price has her head screwed on right and is a very astute business woman, she has made a lot of money from taking her top off. I just think that the equestrian range is crass, but that's just my opinion. I think if she had attempted to create a range that was more fitting with riding horses than looking like something you'd put on a Barbie doll, it would be much more popular.

I don't like the way it has been marketed, she is still coming across as a glamour model, which just doesn't seem right for selling riding clothes, especially to children.

I am of the understanding KP only got her boobies out once or twice and was never a porn star!

I think it is far more disgusting that 9 year old girls wear t-shirts & pants promoting Playboy (which is porn) than wearing KP's stuff. I mean come on! it is just pink!

I personally don't like it, but it isn't that bloody bad! No worse that some more 'reputable' brands that have fallen apart after a few weeks!
