Katie Price

Why is everyone getting so up in arms about KP? I personally like her, so what if she's a bit tacky, it's hardly the end of the world and if you dont like her range- don't buy it, simple! However there may be people out there that do like it and do want to purchase some of her stuff, thats upto them!

I agree with a few other people, she is a very clever women despite the way she tries to portray herself. She's made millions by going topless and doing a few t.v shows, if someone offered me a few million to do that then i would too. At the end of the day no press is bad press for her as it still gets her and her products recognised. If she was to read all these posts she'd probably sit there and laugh, i'm sure she doesn't expect to get picked for 2012, it's just another publicity thing!

Fair comment that she has been made famous fornglamour/topless modelling, i think she is famous for far more than that now. I don't think she is trying to be a role model, she is selling the Katie Price brand. It is all about supply and demand, she saw a gap in the market and went for it. Just the same as she saw a gap in the market for more attractive underwear for women with bigger boobs, for which i am sure many women are grateful. It has also been said about her craving the limelight, well, she also does a lot of charity work which she does quietly, I also think that with the olympic goal, i reckon that it is in her nature to do the best she can at whatever she tries, i don't reckon that she actually believes it will happen, but she is very driven and it is just in her nature to strive for the top. nothing wrong in having goals. I understand that she was asked to do the display at olympia, she didn't push herself forward to it. I haven't met her but my husband has and said she seemed perfectly nice. My motto is Live and let live, so give her a break, I don't really get why people get their knickers in such a twist over what she does. Like others say, if you don't like it don't buy it. she's not a porn star, or trying to be something she's not. I think she is just a working mum who is at the top of her game. Fair play to her.

I haven't bought anything from her range, it's not my cup of tea, apart from the blue rugby shirt. I have friends who have the fleeces and headcollars etc.

OMG, I don't think I've seen such bitchiness and jealousy aimed at any one person on a forum before

THIS is what gives horsey people a bad name
mad.gif
snobbery and the inability to have an open mind or to let 'outsiders' in.

What *if* the son of a very large well know equesrtian clothing brand (which I;m sure ALL of your children (if they ride) have worn) was imprisoned for cocaine dealing?? Would you stop buying it, or slag the company off because of that? afterall, the 'label' is tarnished, just as you're all tarnishing KP for her past.

I'm sorry to tell you all but Equestrianism is a sport where money can buy you success. Katie CHOSE to buy expensive horses, and so what? how does that affect YOU??

I DON'T like the new DH catalogue, I DON'T like the ad campaign with the stillettos, but so what?? one hell of alot of equestrian companies are using 'sexiness' to promote their clothing now. What about Cadlene with whassername Whitaker? Are you telling me the company didnt choose a size 8 pouting blonde on purpose?? Oh, and didnt said pouting blonde do a series of features in PONY magazine?? Sure, she;s a successful showjumper, but the girl had opportunities and money coming out of her ears, she probably wouldnt be exactly where she was today if it wasnt for that. And cadlene were probably attracted to using her in their ads because of her physical appearance. And I seem to rmember the girl doesnt wear a hairnet when competing either... and doesnt she have a belly button bar which she once showed off?

It takes pure determination and luck to get to the top in this sport, and very few without the cash make it.
I understand some horsey people like tradition, but not everyone does. Just because *YOU* don't like it why should everyone else have to be laughed at if they do like it? As I said, it;s THAT attitude which gives horsey people a bad name.

If you don't like the stuff, don't buy it! simple!!

FWIW I was hoping KP would bring out a pony range, and although I shant be buying my 4yo daughter the hipster jodhs (lovely jodhs, just not hipster! lol) I love the rugs and stuff.

Oh, and Derby house, I'm still waiting for my daughter's katie price pink headcollar! Did you send it by carrier snail??

Interesting that not one person has said they have bought something from the range, as per original question ...

I think this has thread has gone slightly off course, if you go back to my original post, I merely said the clothes were naff, which they are.

I like all the Joules clothes and other bright colourful clothes for Spring and Summer, but this range just somehow isn't right.

I do think that Katie Price has her head screwed on right and is a very astute business woman, she has made a lot of money from taking her top off. I just think that the equestrian range is crass, but that's just my opinion. I think if she had attempted to create a range that was more fitting with riding horses than looking like something you'd put on a Barbie doll, it would be much more popular.

I don't like the way it has been marketed, she is still coming across as a glamour model, which just doesn't seem right for selling riding clothes, especially to children.

I don't like the way it;s been 'promoted' either.

I think fair play to the girl- shes a savvy business woman and i quite enjoy watching her show on tv, its a chuckle sometimes but personally im not a fan of her clothing line- for anyone seriously involved with horses the colours etc arent practical. I understand she probably isnt aiming for that market but i cant imagine teaching my clients in blue velour hot pant type shorts or bright pink velour track suits......
But im sure it will be popular with little girls and possibly with people who maybe ride once a week etc (not wanting to generalise but i cant imagine many people working with horses or with their own donning her stuff to go shovel sh*t etc!)
Her riding doesnt seem to be up to much considering the amount of riding she does/ her trainer and the quality of her horses, but if she has the money to compete etc then fair enough. She isnt harming anyone at the end of the day.....

Equestrianism is one of the great british traditions that is left in the uk, and yes of course, it should develop as the world does, but that does not mean putting sequins on it.

Agreed.

That's exactly what I was trying to say I have nothing against her making her money or going to the olympics but I don't think it has been gone about in the best possible manner.

Well said BH, I have to say the ladies in the Pikeur catalogue are plenty glamorous enough and it's tasteful to boot. Put it this way my OH spent an unhealthy amount of time looking, no, perving through it.
I daren't print what I think of KP, would be burned at the stake!

I don't have a problem with her. I watch Katie and Peter when it's on because it's light hearted and funny
smile.gif

I wouldn't say I was jealous of her, but of course I'm slightly envious that she has a fantastic horse, brilliant trainer, all the best gear and nice lorry - who wouldn't be? Doesn't affect me though and it's not like I even spend any time thinking about it. As the subject came up though, I thought "It would be nice to live her lifestyle". That is, her lifestyle now she's given up glamour modelling!
grin.gif

I must admit to being slightly embarrassed when I opened my DH catalogue with KP in a glamour model poses, but don't find her range that offensive. Certainly no more offensive than some other hideous items of clothing available today. I didn't like it particularly, so flicked through it onto something else.

Neither do I care that she's not the best rider in the world. So what? At least she's not bumbling around on her own possibly causing harm to her horse or giving it bad habits. She's doing the right thing by having regular lessons with a good trainer. The horse is also always going to have the best gear - no problems with that either!

I wouldn't say she's intelligent per se, but certainly street-wise and astute where money is concerned. She works hard, even when it may look like she doesn't. I wouldn't want to be jetting off everywhere for work to be honest and be away from my loved ones and animals.

Also re: the 'cheep' comment - Jesus, get a grip! It's not like it was even offensive, just funny! It's not like it was a personal insult to you, and hiding behind a disability is a bit pathetic to be honest. Loads of people have dyslexia and also have a sense of humour

i saw all the clothes at Your Horse Live last year and thought what a breath of fresh air! my friend's daughter, who is 14, loved it and so she should. there is nothing wrong in colour and i think you should all stop putting katie down so much. i know not everyone likes pink but does this mean that the green-eyed monster rears its ugly head once more! i say 'go girl, shock-em all!!!!!'

I cannot agree more with you. I am not a fan of Katie Price and never will be. She does my head in!!
Full credit to her, if she wants to take up dressage and compete well good for her - there has been this false elitist impression of the horse world for too long. Everyone should be able to try out riding if they're interested.
grin.gif

What really riles me about her is the way she swans in, buys several expensive horses and then announces shes going to teach the equestrian world "a thing or two".
mad.gif
Excuse me but who is she???? I love pink and bright clothes (I live in Joules) but she has taken it all to far. Its tacky and chavvy. How many people muck out in velour hotpants? cant say I know any. As for calling it an exclusive range what are Derby House thinking? My catalogue is in the bin.

Would just like to apologies to anyone who has read my last post (next one up) as I have just re-read it myself and realised what a hormonal witch I sound!!

What a lot of crazy ranting. Shes really not that bad (am quite addicted to katie & peter stateside) so I take it all back, well most of it...still cant imagine anyone mucking out in velour hotpants
