Kavalkade Ho Training Aid - Views on it please!

Alot of people use this exact method with draw reins
smile.gif
, it really encourages the horse to stretch long and low
smile.gif
. Both my two are lunged this way,

. I much prefer it to a pessoa or side reins

Do you know if it's elasticated?

Charlie is a bit of a plank and will probably freak if it feels fixed

if it's elasticated he might not mind it as much!

To start with we (my sister and I) put both on, an elastic one, and drawreins, because Tilly has a tendency (sp) to lean on the elastic if she knows that she can, so the drawreins stop her from leaning, does that make sense

! But I would recommend some type of sheepskin sleeve, easily made by going down to your local material shop (can't think of the name) and buying some fake sheepskin and sewing it into a tunnel type shape

Think I may try and make something similar.

I'm thinking a girth sleeve would work for in between the front legs??

Yep

. The draw reins never seem to rub, but when it was just the elasticated line on it's own, when Tilly used to lean on it, it would sometimes rub

yes- it is good. mine hasn't rubbed. But I got mine cheaper by buying from schokemohle sports in germany. My mare goes very long and low in it (she tends to without as well) and I did have the problem that it caught a couple of time on bottom of brushing boots, so I now use it with bandages on the front legs. the kavalkade one is a very light soft nylon rope- softer than draw reins (they may rub).
I like the fact that it's so simple and easy to put on.
