Kbis insurance.

I am with them at present. Pay £42 per month for £1500 valued horse :( Approx £1200 tack covered, and many exclusions of horse.

Have never had to make a claim with them, and you only know if they are any good when this happens!

I have a quote of £60 for a £3500 potential horse. I like that their top package pays £7500 for colic surgery and they also pay hospitalisation costs. I have always used nfu but their quote is horrendous as I made such a big claim for loosing soli.

Not sure what you mean by are they good? but I'm with KBIS and made a claim in December last year. I had to provide full vet history for the horse but other than that no issues. They don't send you emails or updates to let you know your claim is being processed so i did have to ring them a couple of times for updates. Not sure if that is standard as I've only ever made 1 claim.
They have paid out though no quibble. I anticipate I will have an extra exclusion on my policy next year.

Good as in pay out quickly and don't put on silly exclusions. Providing the full clinical history seems to be standard.

I had to claim from KBIS last year several times for an ongoing lameness. I was AMAZED by their customer service, they were absolutely fantastic. Literally cheques within 48 hours, very straightfoward, real people answering my queries, etc etc. I love them!

They are a bit expensive but I guess that's because you're paying for excellent service.....

terrific I bought a £300 vet policy and in the same year claimed £3k for an issue without any query whatsoever just paid all the vets fees and re insured the next year no problem obviously minus one exclusion

Currently have an on going claim (so far just about £4k) and thank god i got thier top package which gives me 15 months to claim not 12 months!
They have paid the vet direct every time within a week of recieving the forms.
They havnt quibbled about anything!

I'm with KBIS - no tack covered. A couple of exclusions for respiratory issues but when I calimed they were quick and efficient - no quibbling. £37 a month on horse for upper value of £3.5k - less than I paid mind - only had 2 stage vetting. I would recommend.

I am being stung by nfu as I claimed near on £10000 (£5000 vet bills, £2300 loss of animal, £2500 for ulcers) in 4 months. Nfu said all other companies will bump up the price as I am required to tell them of these claims. I have rung kbis and said I had claimed a lot recently with nfu and would this affect price and they have said no it wouldn't. So looks like I'll go with kbis

I'm with KBIS, bronze package as appeared best value for money. I have claimed once and they were very efficient. renewal did not go up much at all the next year either.
like all companies they will exclude claimed for areas, but as mine was shown to be just soft tissue, my vets have said they can easily ask them to not exclude it as not permanent damage (e.g. tendon)- my friend has had vets contact KBIS before over exclusions to make them less based on vets report and they have agreed.

I was with them, great customer service and fast and efficient at paying claims, premium went up quite a bit last year and it had been 6 years since I claimed so not as a result of that, there were also silly exclusions so I went to nfu

They pay out quickly but then exclude for everything. Fighting them on exclusions have so far proven fruitless - I will try again on next renewal for a specific exclusion and if they don't remove I will look elsewhere (it's been backed up by 2 different practices as not being significant).

I saw on twitter eventing FB group someone who has just claimed for ulcers with KBIS has now been excluded for ALL colic cover.

Helpful staff though.

Just my experience thus far.

I don't understand what that means hga-1 if you carry on treating the injury and it goes wrong? Reading small print also noticed if they are pts you must to a post Mortem at your expense. Worrying about exclusions now too, exclusion on colic after ulcers seems harsh. Maybe I would be best sticking to nfu for an extra £20, I know they are good.

It means if there is an injury and you continue to treat without your vet they wont cover you if it gets worst. Also if the vet treats and gets you to carry on treatment/ creme /cleaning and it gets worse they wont cover you.

I was with NFU for probably 10 years followed by KBIS for the last 4 or so. So far they have paid out very quickly and have not increased premiums. They seem friendly to deal with. I pay £30 on one horse (silver package) and £50 on the other (gold). Although NFU paid out well, their premiums were far too high (went from £40 pm to £90 pm with no explanation).

They will want to know full details of the horse's history & treatment. They will probably offer you cover at a reasonable price BUT they will hit you with various exclusions following the claims you made with NFU. You will be hit with exclusions with which ever company you insure with.

I have had 3 horses with KBIS for nearly 10 years-have always been very quick but have noticed in the last couple of years they have got more and more expensive without even claiming anything. They did me over with one payout-I get really no discount for having the three with them. One of mine is due for renewal next month and will get quotes from other companies and tell them that they will lose all 3 if they don't look at there prices-nearly £200 a month for 3 ponies with the most expensive insured for £4500 and its there lowest package with £5000 payout.Only thing I would say is that my boy with Ulcers, the exclusion states that he is covered for Colic Unless connected to Ulcers.

It's a new horse, I lost the one with the big claims, I am not aware of any previous claims for them to exclude and he is getting vetted.
