Ok this may be very long :o

I'm always concious of doing the best for Kc my little staffie but am really unsure as to which choice of food now......

A little background first :o She is 7 1/2 yrs old but very 'old' for her age (10 operations over 5/6 yrs) has arthritis in her wrist, neuro/nerve deterioration affecting back legs and a sensitive digestion (gastro intestinal probs and colitis) but is a very happy little girl :)

She currently gets Orijen. She also sometimes has Naturediet too - 1/4 pack and 2/3 of orijen ;) She absolutely loves it and never leaves it even though she has always been a fussy feeder!

However when we stay with OH, (his dogs get fed a cheap working diet) Kc will insist on eating their food, even nudging the GSD out of the way  This has happened on numerous occasions now and luckily has not seemed to upset her digestion

My main concern is I feel I am letting her down by letting her have a working diet instead of the Orijen :( But in the same breath I feel if she likes the other food I should change her over.

Any thoughts and opinions?

What would you do if she was yours?! I am considering buying a bag and doing a taste test at meal times to see if she consistantly chooses one over the other.......

I would leave her on the good diet! She already has issue a bad diet could cause her more issues over time.

Kids will eat McDonald's everyday if we gave it to them but we know its not good for them that's how i see this situation.

Yep good comparision Katie! For example, I have a dog in to stay currently and it drives me mad because he always comes with cheap rubbish dog food that I have to keep well away from my dogs. At the moment he is on bakers complete, ALL my dogs WANT his food, its different and packed full of junk to make it extra yummy! However I know 100% that although it wouldnt upset even the vizslas digestion (she has a senstive tum) if my little parson bitch ate so much as a few mouthfuls of it all her hair would drop out and her skin would be atrocious!
Stick to the decent grub. There is probably no harm in letting her eat the other food on the occasions you are at the OH's given its done no harm thus far. But keep it as a rarity and stick to the 'real' food as her daily diet.

Thanks for replies :)

Katie - thanks for the comparison, hadn't thought about it like that! It makes perfect sense :D
