Well final ODE of my first eventing season. Another 80T. And true to form I got lost on the XC course. In my defence, I have zero sense of direction which is apparently called 'Topographical Agnosia' - I could not direct someone to the bathroom in my own house! So I guess this is going to be an on-going issue so next season I will try and figure out a solution. But anyway on to today:

Amber performed a lovely dressage test - she was much more connected. But I did the entire first canter on the wrong leg. Doh! So that cost me a lot of marks. But it feels like it is going in the right direction evern though the score board does not yet agree!

She was very onward bound in the SJ and overjumped into the first part of the double so then was too deep to the 2nd for a pole. And she was about to take a flyer to the last but I interfered and tried to check her so she chipped in and caught a pole. Both fences down were my fault. Plus I had no studs so we trotted all the tighter corners for some time faults too.

On the XC she was her usual fabulous self and pretended we were in the 100 all the way round. Though I got us lost again so we were clear but with lots of time faults. Oh well. Perhaps I have just had a season of rookie errors so next season will be flawless!!!

It has been loads of fun and it is an utter privilege riding her. I can't WAIT till next year.

Ah well, despite the sat nav error it sounds like you had a good outing and a nice season of getting out and having fun. She has loads of scope so once you find the way around the xc, you’ll be flying! Well done.

6 events and 5 XC satnav errors! (Well 7 if you count going wrong 3 times at Somerford!)

3 XC jumping clears, 1 XC elimination for doing the metre steps in an otherwise clear round and 1 run past for 20 faults in another otherwise clear round.

Just 1 stop that can be blamed on her in 6 rounds of XC jumping. Lesson of the season: walk the course eleventy billion times with a head cam and revise it like an A Level!!

Just so pleased with her though. She's fab.

.

nope, not letting you count that one! If you did the harder fence it doesn't count, lol.

Well done on getting your first season under your belt. Plenty of time over winter to work out how to get the navigation thing sussed :D

She looks fab,

I reckon you need more horses, then you can go round more than once and nail it with the last one :D

I wonder though if you go to the same venues again it might be easier?

Haha I like that idea!

Yes I hope that next season will be better as I will have done every course once apart from Frickley. I do plan to target the same ones again.

Well done you both look fab and I am sure that it will all click next season. I’m a bit crap at going wrong but remembering the course does seem to improve with practice.
