Question from an ignorant dressage rider: at Badminton and Burghley, the riders cross the finish line and seem to be immediately swarmed by the support team ready to cool off the horses. Is it the climate in Kentucky that makes this unnecessary? All seems pretty quiet across the finish line (besides the cheers, of course!).

Yes, seems to be a problem on the broadcast side, not H&C. Refresh the page (watch the Mars advert, again) and sometimes it comes back!
