Kidney Problem Urgent Advice Needed!

My mums horse has been taken into the vet with kidney infection - he has been off of his food and he hasnt passed fluid in a few days despite having 50litres of fluid put in (i think via i.v) My mum is waiting to speak to the vet but the vet did speak to my dad who said there is a possibility of having to pts!!!!I have never had any dealing with horses with kidney problems and understand its very rare so if anyone could offer any advice or knowledge on the subject we would be grateful x
 
Not any help but when my mare was ill that was on of options suggested and outcome if it had been that wasnt great. Hopefully your vet will be able to help the horse and it all works out x
 
Thanks for the comments I know its pretty uncommon so a long shot posting here - he is up at Liphook tonight being operated on so fingers crossed x
