TBH,main issue for me is that(asuming she gets pregnant) child will spend years with little/no acess to its father and an aging mother.By the time the child is an adult she will be nearly 70 FFS.

Dispite what he is convicted for he might turn out to be a good father- plenty of respectable people out there who are very bad parents.
Just looks like no-one has thought about how a child would feel about this situation.

Exactly why I'm being a young mummy! My dad isn't far off that age and it upsets me to think he may never be there to walk me down the aisle or see his grand children!

I dont think I would have the energy to cope with R in my 30's let alone 50's.I dont understand why anyone would want to become a mother in late 40's/50's,I really dont.
And how would the child feel if mum can't join in with them? Or the child has to help look after mum?

No just blunt, and too the point and my personal opinion. Bringing a child into a situation like that also is wrong. How are they going to explain at to a small child?

actually, deep down I do agree with Jess - the bible does sayan eye for an eye so it is a resonable response. I also agree with the concerns people have made about bringing a child into that sort of situation - although children are very resilient...

It's simplistic and silly- my opinion.
Did I say them having a child was a good thing?

It turns out he is in prison for beating a man to death when he refused to give him a cigarette. His wife was in for fraud. The man is in his 20s and the wife is in her 40s. Having a baby is not a right, maybe he should try and make a go of being a family with his three step-children.

So I guess he doesn't deserve any 2nd chance then huh?! Cant believe this is even allowed to go to court. They should be told to get real. In my opinion, you leave your human rights behind when you kill a person! Its sick that its EVEN being considered. They do not deserve a child, not everybody should have a right to bring another human into the world, especially not a damn murderer.

I wish these moron criminals would stop sitting about in prison thinking up things to take to court (I assume just to amuse themselves). Just like that stupid WIN made by those idiots who moaned when they had to go 'cold turkey' from heroin when they went to prison. Oh didums! AGHHHHH, they seem to think prison should be the damn Ritz!!!

They got a few thousand for kicking up a fuss, in their eyes do you think they won? We're not talking about being in a court of law...nobody has mentioned that.

Erm, except that yes they did because the post that I was replying to on this thread by MagicMelon said:

The case was not legallly won. They did not win compensation, they received a settlement. There was no recognition of a breach of their human rights so the case was not sucessful/won.

Like I said, they did NOT win, it was settled.

Who knows whether the men in question felt it to be a personal victory; there were several of them and it could well have varied man to man as to how they felt about the outcome of the case. I very much doubt many of them felt victorious. There was no recognition of their human rights being breached; no breach of a duty. This means that there was no acknowlegement from the court that they had been mistreated, they were merely paid off out of court. To most tort victims the acknowledgement that they have been mistreated and that someone has breached a duty of care owed to them is far more important than whatever settlement or compensation they receive.

Aren't we?! I thought that this thread was about an attempted court case...?!

Yet nobody had mentioned it before, so why say it a dozen times? I personally don't care if it went to court or not, I care that they wrongly received compensation for being drug users.

You know full well I was referring to the drug users and not the fella who wants to be a father, therefore I hadn't even mentioned the courts. And the drug users case never reached court so why would we be talking about court cases?

"Who knows?"

I know, they get their prescription and a few thousand to keep them happy, I mean seriously would you be disappointed with that result?

" they were merely paid off out of court."

Wrongly so, why was it kept out of court? To save money? Well it won't to the future because more of these prison scum will be knowing their rights and will play the system. They are in prison as punishment, not to recieve compensation for an illegal habit!
