kineton noseband- what does it do?

That link has a pretty good explanation. It basically transfers some of the pressure when you take a pull from the mouth to the nose.
I use one on my mare for xc and it has made all the difference. I ride her in a waterford which has been the best bit I've found for her as she won't tolerate curb or poll pressure, but she still gets away from me in it. Adding the kineton means I can be more subtle in my aids as she seems happy with nose pressure.

A friend of mine had a very strong horse on loan. He was a TB built like a whippet and his owner had him in a very strong bit. He used to fight like crazy X/C and fling his head around so much it would cut his mouth. My friend borrowed a kineton and took the same snarling devil of a horse X/C in a rubber bit still pulled a bit but was controllable and calmed down completely X/C.

Always did XC on my last mare in a snaffle with a kineton, brilliant noseband

I think a lot of horses like it as it reduces pressure in the mouth, so you can't really pull too much on the bit, making it kinder to the horse

My mare was extremely fussy in the mouth, so usually ridden in a straight bar snaffle, and the kineton just gave me a little extra control without too much of a war.
