I have finally admitted that my lovely boots just do not fit right and have listed them on ebay. Such a shame....but means I get to buy new ones! Been looking at some and wondered if the laces at the front make much of a difference. I've never worn laced ones before. Mainly be using them for SJ and XC, very rarely do dressage. Also, what happens if said laces get worn and break?? Thanks.

I quite like the laces on the front of my boots, they are actually elastic laces & just allow a bit of 'give' at the front of your ankle/top of foot. My boots are about 7 years old & I have just replaced the laces. I rang the boot supplier/maker, they looked me up on their database & sent me the correct lace for the model of boots that I have - cost about £5 inc P&P.

These are my boots: http://www.bestboots.co.uk/windsor_riding_boots.htm

I have Ariat Bromonts which also have elastic laces. I found it made them so comfortable, as soon as I put them on. Brilliant for jumping, when the 'angles' in your leg close up - no more boot rubs

My boots have laces, proper tied laces - I LOVE them. I wear them for anything competitive/hunting/clincs etc. Had them 6 years.

I have hyper mobility in my joints, especially ankles, so when they are really 'slack' I can tighten up the laces to support them a bit more.

Mine have laces. I have very skinny feet, and it lets me tighten the boots so they fit better than non-laced ones. It's not really kosher for upper-level dressage, but that's hardly likely to be an issue any time soon for me! And it's fine for any other discipline.
