I got one bordering on laminitis Jan 2024. Mud paddock, negative cushings but her crest came right up and she just didn't look right so I got the vet.
I'm pretty sure with her it is something hormonal. We'd had quirky Jan weather with a warm patch. No grass in my winter paddock but she got a bit hormonal as if her first season of the year was starting and up came her crest. Insulin measured at 160.
I'm convinced the vet thought I was lying about her food intake but since then I've kept an eye on her if she starts getting squealy and her crest comes up every time. I know hormones create havoc in diabetics so I'm convinced that's part of her issue.
