If you Google laminitis and 90% of cases lots of info comes up relating to it.

My horse had it mildly over 25 years ago and was kept/managed as a laminitic after that, muzzled when turned out etc. There wasn't the link with PPID then, my vet said it's likely mine had that too mildly, that year it had been a wet summer and the grass just kept growing like spring grass he thinks that was the trigger. He wasn't diagnosed with PPID until Nov 2015 and was only tested due to his age no symptoms I didn't think at the time. He went from borderline 29 ACTH April 2015 to 120 by Nov 2015 so started meds, he didn't do well on the prascend and had the veil initially but then I feel he suffered with mild veil throughout the 4 years he was on it. I then switched to the BOVA pergolide paste which was the best thing i ever did, within weeks he was back to his old self.

Sadly lost him this march unrelated to laminitis he was 42

Wow that's a grand old age!

I remember about 25 years ago there being a lot of laminitis cases, as we're seeing this year too.

I've got a follow up call with my vet tomorrow so may mention testing.

There are so many variables to the cause of laminitis, I think this year a high proportion are due to the weather and grass growth. But always worth checking out other causes.
