Test was a bit hit-and-miss but the good bits have all gone up half/one mark so I’ll take that as a win.

He goes a little bit backwards on me in the ring so we’re going to step back down for a bit and get some more in-ring miles under our belt without the pressure.

yesterday afternoon we had an in-hand session with Guido Leidelmeyer to help with some loading issues. Jack can be a little tricky to handle, plus he’s *strong*. we always load in the indoor as he has a bad habit of setting his neck against you and bogging off - last time, he broke the control head collar and took off and managed to smash one of our arena mirrors. 🫣

We made good progress yesterday so hopefully I can keep that going until he comes back for the next session.

Wow looking great RF. You both look effortless and that takes a lot of effort to do, I’m sure!

We had a good day out at the BRC qual dressage at Keysoe. Haven’t been there for nearly 2 years. The place is amazing. I hope they run more events there as the facilities are so good. Two big classes and the scores were very close with just a couple of % between the bulk of the competitors. Bertie found the loud music in the warm up very exciting 🐉 (they had DTM in the same indoor bit) but we kept it together - just! I didn’t want to get on for the 2nd warm up as he was a bit spinny ! But he was actually better once I was on, so another learning point for me there.

A bit tense in the P2 but I rode it fairly accurately (practised this one more) and no major mistakes for 67% and 9th. Very pleased with that. He felt better in P1 but I didn’t ride it as accurately and we struggled a bit with some tension at times but again pretty consistent- 66% and mid table. If I can get out more regularly, it’ll be interesting to see if he an relax more as there is def scope for better marks if we can produce closer to what we are working on at home.

Celebrated with a nice cuppa and sausage roll from the now posh cafe there. It was nice to compete for my RC and be out on a cold but bright day.

Ooh photos are already up, so ETA.

We had a great clinic. The morning session was on suppleness and making sure the horses were on our aids. This worked really well to get the horses soft and listening to us and got rid of any freshness in a nice subtle, relaxed way. Then, in the afternoon, we worked large and worked on the paces, and Amber thought this was high fun queue me giggling like a loon. Once I got control of myself and rode, she softened nicely, and we got a really nice simple change on a straight line. So very happy.

We had a nice walking hack out yesterday afternoon; apparently Amber was very tired and had spent the morning flat-out snoozing in her field :)
I definitely think she was better for having travelled over the night before. That was more stressful for me as I nearly got the car and trailer stuck in the mud in the dark, but we made it out :D
