Is this Munstead by any chance? Saw the event pop up on FB and felt sick with envy. Mum hasn't had a jump on Rosie yet so think my chances of getting her round it in April are slim to none.

Another non riding weekend for me, although I dreamt I hopped on Rosie bareback and had a canter and it was wonderful. Just 22 weekends to go till due date. As the weather has warmed up I might have a spring clean of my tack and stable - thrilling!

Yes, I've entered. Figured it's good to have something to aim for even though Bear has not yet been taught to jump..

The nights are getting lighter!!!! I spent an hour or so grooming and tidying up the boys yesterday after work. It was lovely an mild and was just nice to clean them up and have a good look at them. My plan to get Mr B fit starts today with a hack round the block (about 45 mins in walk) then some schooling in the field on saturday and maybe a hack sunday. I'm thinking if I can get a schooling session in in the week and then ride fri, sat, sun we should be onto a winner. I want to do some online dressage with him just to have something to aim for.
The tiny taliban will be walked out on his own again round the block. He is loving his adventures. I'm really trying to get him exposed to as much as possible so its all just normal. He also needs to be stimulated or he becomes a terrorist in the field and the older lads are starting to get a little irritated by him.

Then the boring bits of chain harrowing and fence repair - but even that doesn't seem to bad in the nicer weather :)

Enjoy the sunshine :)

I don't know if you've been before but the 65cm course is really inviting, nothing tricky or too scary so I'm sure he'll be fab! The only bit I don't like is that the start box and first jump are right by the warm up which can make for a sticky start.

ETA If you let me know your time when you get it I will most likely be there watching friends so don't mind filming as much of you as I can!

Ah that’s really kind, will do.

We will be doing the pairs so he should just follow Bog (who I imagine will be wild and not too chuffed to be taking it at a steady pace!)

I think once baby arrives you won’t be remotely bothered Re horsey stuff :)

MP - that's great news about Kira :)
Oldie - fingers crossed for Rosie, it sounds like it's all heading in the right direction
Everyone else - enjoy your hacking / fitness work / prep for future comps!

I've not managed to school at all this week due to work. Having my usual Friday gossip hack with a friend today, then will school in the morning before physio for me (yay!) and will see what we fancy on Sunday. Dressage trainer is back next Wednesday so I do need to do some homework before then.

Will also get Chilli out for another walk in hand :)

I really like that class at munstead. You might find it a bit small tbh but it suits me just fine. Finnegan does find it a bit nap inducing going away from the lorry park but once we pass the first third, we’re off!

Lovey day today for a quick visit and check up on the loan pony. Was almost too warm and the flies are out already. But it was lovely.

Small is ideal, I want to keep Bog jumping very small whilst he builds up slowly to the dizzying heights of 80/90 ?At that height we can trot around and he barely needs to make an effort!

Plans for us are to go on a nice hack on Saturday, we trialled the route last week with a friend. This week we will do it alone, part of my training of Stormy to be a normal horse from being a racehorse. Then on Sunday, we have a lesson with my local trainer. I am really looking forward to it, we have made some good progress since our last one, 3 weeks ago. I forget how sponge like young horses are, Stormy is already proficient in leg yield, shoulder-in and starting travers. We keep our normal schooling sessions fairly short and our hacks longer for fitness work.
Stormy is also getting used to be a normal horse going out in the field, this she finds more tiring than schooling. The major positive effect has been that she is now very quiet to ride!

Loads of my social media friends seem to be able to get photos of their horses looking beautiful. Why do mine always turn out like this?!

I promise that he’s a very handsome horse in real life...

Don’t worry here is the reality shot of my bay idiot when asked to stand for a photo this morning...

Not sure why he gets the simplicity of a cavesson, I should strap his gob shut :D

Week 8 of fitness work!! We are increasing the little bits of trot work. Up hills. Interestingly (well, to me anyway - probably absolutely no one else lol!!) Alw's trot is loads better coming back into work. Although she had a good trot at rising 3, all last year as a 4 y/o it was pretty grim. Suddenly now though trot feels properly balanced and even quite 'swinging' at times. Still a work in progress. Walk however has vanished somewhere...we get some fabulous walk work for short periods and then horrible, not-concentrating, not-making-an-effort, totally-switched-off, shuffling or jogging walk which results in me either asking for 'Forward please' or 'Halt please' so that we can sort it out and try to get some consistency. It is very quite tedious but the really lovely walk work is gradually becoming more of a feature. Thank goodness for that/was losing my enthusiasm for walk work. I have had a teeny, 'fun' canter just to reassure myself that we still have it. And we do!! Canter has never really been an issue thankfully...well in terms of all the problems that can occur with young horse cantering anyway!!

I can't wait to be able to get back to some schooling and coaching but I am hoping that by putting in fitness and terrain work everything will be ready to take on a bit more challenging work when we can get out. I have to arrange for flu jab so that I at least have an option of considering a dressage test at some point. And I do think a lot of my 'lumpy' young horse so it would be lovely to make real progress and show that off!!

Did a bit of impromptu jumping this evening with a couple of other ladies on the yard. We were lucky to have someone willing to set up a grid for us- I haven't jumped properly for a long time and I don't have any confidence with it, so going down a grid of three cross poles is an achievement for me.

Blue really enjoys it, and if I can manage to not tense up and interfere, he jumps really nicely. So I think I need to get my act together, get some lessons and make jumping part of our routine. We've done two days in a row in the school now, though, so definitely hacking tomorrow.

I'm impressed with how many of you have got on with making post lockdown plans already!

I am not nearly so organised so I will just be enjoying the weather and hacking and allowing myself to have a tiny party inside because winter is almost over ???

And also...'tis the season to be out lamb-spotting (you might have to zoom in. I'm pretty sure this field of lambies are Jacobs)

Will probably get on and ride up and down the drive. I'm itching to go for a hack as I haven't ridden since last September. The bridleway is still impassable, so I'll just have to make do for now. Bit of fencing to sort out, hoping hubby will help me with that!?

Planning to try and do a bit of schooling/jumping (depending on what’s in the arena already) and probably a hack. Henry has barely been worked at all this week, last night was the first night I’ve been home from work before 7:30-8pm ? had a quick lunge yesterday (once I managed to catch the idiot, he’s normally good but apparently he’s turned feral now) so hopefully won’t be tooo fresh today...

I’m another one eyeing up some little ODEs and other comps once lockdown is lifted, can’t wait to have something to work towards again’

Hacked again today in glorious sunshine. Hurrah. Took Toby out alone and he was fab. I can actually understand why people like hacking now!

Jumping lesson tomorrow which I hope goes well as the eventing season is starting imminently so it;s time to step up a bit with the hope of getting him out competing in the summer. Or deciding I don't want to event him and making The Decision. Finally.

Also booked myself on a camp today. Hurrah somethign to look forward to! And am organising one too so am in full camp-mode. Do love pony camp!! Best weekends ever.

Idiot here remembered nearly all tack, and I even chucked the clippers in the car!, *except* a saddlecloth. The weather was nice enough that I decided to ride without one - I’ve never done that before - but M didn’t appreciate the end of the stirrup leathers flicking her sides so we only went out for 30 mins round the block :D.

It’s lovely to be riding out in a jumper rather than 3 layers of coats!

My crazy daughters announced yesterday that they were walking a marathon today. I have spent all day expecting a call to rescue them but thet have just got home 11 hours 10 minutes after setting off. Strava confirms 26 miles walked! Impressive but I think I'll be riding Dolly in Katie's lesson tomorrow :D:D

Isn't it lovely to see a blue sky? We walked up May Hill this morning, nearly didn't go as there was fog lurking but once there it was just beautiful, stirred the heart!

We had an early hack, but we baby sat another livery so we just had a potter round the estate. Baby horse was very good, and Charlie just goes in to "work" mode so my only input is speed and direction really, hes ace at playing nanny ? then his owners kids wanted a go at driving the shetland (whos actually quite nice) so I walked her 2 year old gelding out with them. He went upfront the whole way and mostly behaved very well - only mowed through me twice i think ?
He did however spend all his time shouting for company - not entirely sure he realised that the strange wheeled contraption out with him had a pony attached to it ?

Ooh he does look good there.
Couple of pics of me and baby pony - we stopped there as there's building work on that house and he was a bit concerned so I wanted to let him stop for a look at it all. Hopefully he'll grow a little bigger - the kids are almost as tall as me already so he likely won't do for them for long but I might be able to get out and have some fun with him
