Late weekend plans!

Unhappy trip to the hand hospital..... turns out Izzy broke the tip of the ulnar off when she broke her radius and the ligament detached. Only no-one noticed that bit - just the radial fracture. So now the bone has grown in the wrong direction as the ligament is not keeping it in place. So she probably needs an op which will involve re-breaking the bone and re-attaching the ligament. Bugger. Oh well she and Deedee can be crocked together!

Crikey, that's awful ???

I really hope she gets a date soon...

Well done MP, a much more successful trip ??

F jumped Daisy this morning at home with some friends, and then we hacked the rest out. Absolutely Baltic though.

Couldn't get enough clothes on....

Clearly I missed DeeDee being crocked AE! Not good news.
I'm hoping to manage to ride, it's my busy time of year work wise, and the problem with riding from the field gate is when it rains it's even harder! Hopefully a trip out but will see how we get on. Winnie is cantering and seems very happy! So could do with a trip to the gallops.

I’ve had a mostly non horse weekend!!!

Friday was my work Christmas party - the day kickstarted by a wonderful jump session first thing with Rooni. Saturday saw alpaca walking for part of a friends birthday and then a much needed quiet and early night!

Today Roonibear went hacking with his mate Ferdi in minus 2 degrees weather. He was a superstar and I really adore him :) Followed by a lovely cake/coffee/catch up with a good but very busy friend!

Figgy is on bed rest with a suspected beastly abscess :( it’s either that or something more sinister but 100% right foot issue.

He is mostly being a model patient lol...

AE sorry to hear about Izzy, I hope she get's fixed up quickly
MP That's brilliant and I hope Darcey likes travelling in his new lorry
Fiona, where do you find such lovely ponies on loan, they are as rare as hen's teeth here!
I did ride yesterday and it was sooooo cold I schooled in a coat but then I was too hot and we have mud and standing water in all the paddocks now. Neither of the horses is keen to stay out for too long and Rose can walk for England when she wants to get back to the stable, this is a new part of my fitness programme, just keeping up with her!

AE I didn't realise Izzy had broken her wrist at all (I hope it wasn't a horsey mishap!). I hope they can squeeze her in soon so she gets it sorted over the winter ready for next season!

MP well done!

NikkiMariet, beautiful photos. Has the lovely Rooni lost his tail or is it bandaged up? I can't quite tell!

I've had a completely non-horsey weekend. I went to Barcelona with my mum. My friend rode my big lad (she's a better rider than me so it was useful from an education point of view as well as just exercise!). I did offer my little one but I'm not sure yet if he did anything. I will find out on Tuesday :)

Sounds like a great weekend had by all.
Didn't end up riding, which is ok. Ponies can have a few days off in this heat.
Just had word that E will see the vet on Thursday, fingers crossed for something treatable! I am somewhat apprehensive given I lost my last TB to soundness problems and have somewhat resigned myself to the same with E :( Hope I will be proven wrong.
43C next Saturday, might just need to get up at 5am to get my rides done o_O

I know, we were completely offered the new chap out of the blue, and he hasn't put a foot wrong so far.... Even when Fionn did laps of his field this afternoon while child was riding...

And Daisy is going brilliantly too at the moment ???

Dressage Cob, Izzy broke her arm 4 years ago. It seemed to heal fine but has been sore for a couple of years. A year ago we were told the break sites were often painful when bones were growing. But in recent months it was looking obviously deformed so we were referred to the Hand Unit at Derby Hospital. Can't believe it needs to be re-broken ?

Fingers crossed for Izzy and also for you your northern northern

It was a close call as to whether I went jumping yesterday. It’s a long drive, I had a number of chimps on my shoulder all chattering at me and all I really wanted to do was sit in the sofa and eat biscuits. However I felt I needed to make the effort so gave myself a kick up the bum as we haven’t competed in ages and off we went. Parked up, mr H was very excited and disgusted to be left in his trailer while I went to enter and walk the course.
Was a bit worried we would be late for our class (they start with the lead rein classes and it just depends how many enter the previous class as to when yours starts. As it happened there were lots of entries and the tinies were still jumping when we arrived. (I particularly liked the pony that casually walked most of its round carefully stepping over the poles)
As we haven’t competed in a long time we entered the 65cm and 75 cm - won the 65 with a DC but knocked one down in 75. Contemplated entering the 85 but as I felt more like a knackered passenger than an active jockey by the last few jumps I decided to end on a good note. Mr H didn’t want to go home and wanted to stop for a beer with his mates however he consented to load on 2nd attempt and we went home

AP - I hope they step and sort Izzy out properly now. Hopefully she and Deedee will be recovered and ready to go in the spring.
I hope the poorly ponies mend well. And congrats to everyone getting out and about.
I made it over to see Amber andshe's fine, coming on nicely but ovbisouly still very baby ish at the moment so it will be a few months before I get to be on board.
She's very keen to try and do the right things which means she needs a quick off the mark but tactful rider to keep her on track, which thankfully is just what she's got.
She's probably going to have a little holiday for a few weeks now as she's grown again, I keep asking her not to, but to be honest she's looking more level now so that's a bonus, even if it does mean I need to improve my mounting skills.
My back currently seems to be a LOT better so fingers cross it lasts too, I managed to have my lesson which was great fun and managed a few stops 2, the last two of which I was quite pleased with.
Amber also gamley got into the festive spirit, although she wasn't entirely sure about it all yet.

Yikes! Poor kid. I hope she gets booked in ASAP and then has a speedy recovery, which ties in perfectly with DeeDee being back to full strength! I hope the stars align for that one.

Friday was works Christmas do so Saturday was spent feeling ?. Did hack and had an amazing close encounter with a massive bird of prey but no pictures due to ?...

Sunday caught up on housework just in time for it to start sleeting! Did manage a quick jump on Skylla before the heavens really let rip!

Just catching up... crikey hope your daughter is better soon, thats sounds awful. Poor Deedee as well. I had a mare that was hard to keep weight on. After a lifetime of good dooers I found it very hard and quite demoralising. The one thing that did help her was grass, lots of it . I tried the pink mash, ease and excel etc she was quite stressy too, and could lose weight overnight. Her issue was her teeth, I guess you've all that checked. The only food that really made a difference was stud mix. She blossomed on that. Hope it all works out for you.

Oh that was simply me being lazy - it was freeeeeeeeeeeezing and he wouldn't stand still :D despite him being on a lunge line (easier to hold them on your own) I just couldn't get behind to get it off! It has been so wet I figured it wouldn't matter too much. I usually leave them plaited for hacking anyway :)
