I am laying in bed with the flu burning up and all keep thinking about is what I can do to make my horses bed a bit easier and better. Not used to having such time on my hands. Horse duties have been passed to my teenage daughter which is the bonus of sharing a horse.

I am currently on pellet bedding as she is a very wet mare and I was doing 3 hunters a week which was crazy, but I am adding 3 bags of pellet a week and it doesn't look very comfy for her really. After much reading on this site, due to flu lol, I am considering cardboard bedding which I believe is good for wet horses (opinions greatly received if I am wrong).

The problem I have is that I still have half a pallet of pellets. My question is, do any of you think it might be a good idea to do a layer of pellet as a base and then a big fluffy layer of cardboard Eco Bed over the top or do you think this might be messy and I should start afresh with cardboard. My mare is extremely wet. We are not allowed straw on our yard. Comments appreciated, bored in bed xxx

I have no idea what would be best, why don't you just lie back and chill. Get something good on the TV, Ipad etc If you haven't watched "Apple Tree yard" I can recommend it. Sometimes, when you are ill it's the time to stop thinking and listen to your body which is saying "REST".
