Ive got my first ever matchy matchy set :D and proudly admired my girl in the chilli red ears tonight ha ha. Rode in the school for 20 mins, just walk, halt transitions, getting in the corners etc, got off, she shook her head and the bridle fell off??? They def fit, they didnt slip or move, what have I done wrong? or more so what can I do to prevent this happening again please?
Bit gutted as I was proper pleased with our new found matchiness lol

It happened to me once out hacking, Pony shook his head to get rid of flies and the ear veil and bridle just flew straight off, being a highland he just stopped and started eating whilst I retrieved everything but it could have been a disaster! Mine all ftted perfectly too, as Ester says, I dont think its unheard of

My old guy has small ears as it is but with a Le Mieux fly bonnet on the bridle has come off about three times whilst out hacking. I’ve got a different one that has a string that’s tied around the throat like a throat lash and that stays on better.

Gosh! My girls 6 but extremely green due to a year off due to injury. I wasnt going to ride in the current climate but she is bored and needs some stimulation, hence just proper baby stuff, just to give her something to think about. The thought of her bridle coming off whilst I was riding isnt good!! Im gutted now though as they arent cheap at all!

Thanks all, she had the normal ones on tonight, doesnt need the acoustic day to day, they were bought because they were in the sale and the hope one day we will finally get to a comp lol.
I think I may just buy another make tbh, they are needed with the midges here, which were bad tonight, her bridles never fell off before without them and Ive used ears before on previous horses without an issue, its strange how there seems to be a problem with Le Mieux.
Eggs, do you mean plaiting the ears into a plait?

Thanks for all your replies x

There are some really nice ones online, I tend to look an eBay. They are so much cheaper, are in fabulous colours and seem to fit better. I can order 3 or 4 in lots of different colours for the price of 1 LeMieux one!

This has happened with every fly veil I’ve ever tried. I love how they look and think they’re great in theory, but I never seem to have any luck with them.

I wonder if its something about the shape of some horses heads ? I have a mix of LM and esky veils, use one most of the time on a range of horses and haven't lost a bridle yet ?

Well mines got a pretty good set of ears :D massive infact ha ha, I wouldnt have thought they'd have fell of hers lol

It’s never happened to me but I’ve only worn my le Mieux one once and that was enough- poor boy shook his head on the whole ride! I took it off half way. Never happened with any other plain cotton fly veils.

I had the same thing happen with my ISH and my Welsh B, so I’m not really sure. All I can say is that neither of them ever had their bridles come off without a fly veil ??‍♀️

I’ve had one get the ears off from underneath the bridle, I think they were accoustic ones, and probably schoklmole (sp!)

think the problem was that the horse needed full size to get her donkey ears into, but needed a cob sized “headpiece”. She had a full set on at the time they came off

i cant use any fly veils on mine, even the super thin Animo ones take the whole bridle off with one shake!

Hes got that typical welsh wedge shape head and is cresty with tiny ears so Im sure that doesn't help but i wont be trying it again-thankfully i was experimenting at home so no harm done and he stopped (from canter) straight away like erm mother-we have a malfunction!!!!!

I don't use one because I am paranoid about this happening.

He does fine without one anyway. My horse does have a long mane so some kind of braiding thing may work to secure everything. I hadn't considered that.

yes mine did that with the https://www.doversaddlery.com/silent-ear-bonnet/p/X1-23221/ one, I now put throat lash on the bonnet as there wasn't one, and tightened bridle one hole, so far so good. I bought a ball of wool and plaited the throat lash bit

Mine is a big spooker, and she is a better ride with the ear muffs on, and also concentrates more that wasy too
