...this weekend!

Hehehe! This could be fun, one of my friends has very kindly offered to show me how to clip their wonderful Irish Draughts over the weekend and though I cant wait I am a clumsy cow and god knows what this will turn out like!

Dont forget to wear your fleecy jumper and your lip gloss

You'll be fine. The trick is to just relax and make nice smooth strokes with the clippers. That way you get straight lines and a good finish. Once you've done one, you'll wonder what the fuss was about!

(or is that what the jumpers for!)

Thanks Milliepops will remember this and report back!

Did my first ever clip yesterday. Avoided the dreaded itch until later when I found I'd overestimated the saddle cloth area so got the clippers out again without protection, the wind blew at the wrong moment and it hit me in the face not to mention down my neck!!! Invest in overalls otherwise it wasn't as difficult as I expected, cleaning the clippers afterwards was more stressful.

Good luck.

Actually the goggles IS very good advice! Nothing worse than getting hair in your eyes!

(I did try clipping in goggles once but I couldn't see properly - I wish someone would invent proper clipping eyewear...

Try & do long stokes with the clippers not short ones as this makes for less lines & a quicker overall job. Overalls & facemask are a definate benefit

Hehe I saw that Kitsune, personally couldnt see anything wrong with it myself! lol

I am quite looking forward to it, though if its anything like when I give them a bath and end up with more water on me than the horse I am in trouble! Cue yeti photo on Monday!

Hmm now this is painting a picture for me..

Goggles, lipgloss, fleecy jumper, thong and a LOT of horse hair!

hmmm ....

Thank FUDGE its Friday!!!

My first clip looked like I'd taken a lawn mower and run it over my horse

I've always found wearing the same overalls decorators use with a long sleeve shirt underneath helps keep the hair out

there is a useful video on clipping on YH mags website, look under 'improve your riding' its in 5 parts, begining and end parts are clipper care, middle sections are to do with aproaching the horse and clipping tecnique. Have fun
