so ... lets have a lil looky pleeeease
grin.gif

I only have a couple of mine out shooting as it's very difficult to get shots of them
tongue.gif
So there non-moving shots I'm afraid. I'll try to get more later on in the year, depending on where we go shooting. It's easy in the woods, but when you're squashed into the hide not so easy
grin.gif

We did a little bit of pigeon shooting over the summer, but not as much as normal. Uncle M has been too busy in work!

Daaaaaaaaaaad, hurry up and shoot something! This is one-eyed Tina who will not be working this year.

Midget, who has only worked one season. She's on the lead as she had the tendency to break when we sent Tina.

Don't worry, cartridges are always removed although most of those weren't ours
mad.gif
We lifted them though as we didn't want people thinking it was us!

Otto hasn't gone out proper Shooting yet, but he has done two days supervising the Pigeon Shooting

OK
laugh.gif
not gundogs, but these are working dogs/dogs with jobs!

This is my boy doing some working trials stuff and a bit of rag training, if he ever decides to become interested in bitework.

The bottom two are bitches - they are every bit as brave!

You'd have to get to the back of a very long queue!
grin.gif
Everybody loves him, he is so perfect, I am sure he was born trained. His proper name is Ruraich, but has been nicknamed and he responds to RooPoo, it's very funny when my Mum calls him that at a shoot!
grin.gif

I always try to steal him when I go home, but my Mum won't let me
mad.gif
grin.gif

I would love a Chesapeake Bay, a Clumber Spaniel or a Field Spaniel, but in reality I'll be sticking with a Springer
grin.gif
Although if Roo found a nice lady friend before then I might be persuaded!
grin.gif

Do your parents still breed cockers? Perhaps I could steal a puppy...
smirk.gif
grin.gif

Ah I LOVE Clumber Spaniels! They are soooo cool. I don't know anyone who works Chesapeakes, but I would be willing to give one a go
grin.gif

They don't really breed them, but if they have a good one and find the right bitch they will have a litter, Roo needs to have offspring though as he is quite literally the most perfect cocker! Although finding an equally nice bitch would be very hard!

I love Clumbers too, but I think finding a good working strain can be hard, apparently they can be headstrong but after Otto I'm ready for it
grin.gif

H_H he is such a lovely looking hound
laugh.gif
. Out of interest, what benefit is the rag training to bitework
smile.gif
? I have no experience at all
blush.gif
of this but would like to look into it with Ruby. PM me if you prefer please
smile.gif

Hi DD - there is a video of him a few threads down if Ruby wants to admire him some more
laugh.gif

The ragging is the beginning of training for the protection/courage element of Schutzhund.
The dog will move from the rag, to the 'sausage' (a cylinder of padded material) the pillow (a square of padded sackcloth) and then the sleeve, which is what the dogs in the last three pictures are working on.
This training is all based around play/a game.
In the dog's head, it is not 'attacking a criminal', it is trying to chase and hang onto an article. Then as they progress, a shouty man tries to take the article away, and they must 'win' it back from him - even when he waves a big stick at them.
Later on, the man will hide from the dog, with their article, and they must seek it out and get it back!

Google your local Schutzhund or working club, go along and see for yourself - I know their are a lot of Rotties doing well in dogsport.
Her obedience will need to be good if you want to go for it - it is a highly controlled discipline and the dog must 'come out' of the article immediately it is instructed to.
Our trainers don't allow dogs on the field until their obedience is up to a certain standard - you can imagine what would happen if an unruly dog decided to get a sneaky bite in!

Love the sable in your pics C , well both sables of course but goes without saying where Bodo is concerned. At the moment the only "work" Evie does is helping with gardening, as on my pics yesterday

Kensa last season, her first proper full shoot season ... so proud
010-2.jpg

I see it!! Me too
012.jpg

Ellie looks rough at rats in this one bless her, she had a spot of mange in this one
frown.gif
(was being treated!) and being a nutty spangle doesnt slow down for any cover, regardless of how thick it is .. hence the sore squinty eyes

Wish I'd had a camera at the yard tonight - was helping my friend jump, the dogs were tied to the fence (I thought) when a cat came strolling down just under their noses
shocked.gif

Cue one cat streaking at full speed across the menage closely followed by Islay, who luckily decided she couldnt get through the post and rail fence on the other side
crazy.gif
My friend said 'wow, she really moves doesnt she'
grin.gif

Now that is a proper working dog for you
tongue.gif
grin.gif
grin.gif
grin.gif

i need to get an up to date group photo as poor bramble has gone now, and that one is missing Jake and 'one eyed' Lucy bless her, she had a little accident with a running cock bird and his spur in her eye
frown.gif
so she had to have it removed, vet told us she would never work again...load of rubbish if i ever heard it! Don't get me wrong she spent the first few weeks bumping into hedges/gates etc but as soon as she got the hang of it there was no stopping her!! ... thing is she's always out with dad so it's hard to catch her with the camera!!
blush.gif
grin.gif

What a nice gang! Love yours too, Henmeister, I am aiming to get a group shot of my two and their other siblings next month on their birthday, somehow I don't think it will be as easy as you two make it look!

There is a shoot around the corner from us each year and I have to watch my pair very carefully and remind them that no, they are not gundogs and no, they are not allowed to chase pheasants for miles over the heather
blush.gif

Can I just say SA, your pics have made me quite hungry..mmm..gamey!
smile.gif

I had a one eyed girl too. She had her eye removed at 10 years old due to cancer, wsa amazing how quickly she adapted, so can fully believe your girl would be back working again.
smile.gif

OK he's not a working dog. But he has dreams too....
Henry_Duck_Hunter_by_RenDMC.jpg

If I could shoot it would have been duck a l'orange that night!
grin.gif

haha nice roast Pheasant?! it's not all that easy gettin a group photo. Kensa has that 'mummy please don't shout' face
shocked.gif
smirk.gif
grin.gif
but bloody Willow (dads black cocker) would NOT keep her fizzy little bum still!! Mitzy (JRT) was also alive at the time but she was off doin her own thing at the time!! Only time she would listen to you was if you said 'ratsssss'

amazing isnt it
smile.gif
they just seem to get on, no fuss. Lucy is 11 now and was about 5 when she had it removed. We rescued her from some nasty man when she was 18 months ...
mad.gif

Part of me would like to take Henry beating but I just don't think he's built for it - shame since I think he'd love it
