Contrary to what it says on the website, in the paper today there are numnahs advertised! Am going to go and see if they DO have boots and gloves just in case!
maybe some stuff is ok, but I know the rugs etc are crap. My friens thought she'd got the deal of a lifetime and lived to regret it didn't last a month so went back to equicare after feeling really stupid especially as they had looked after her in the past for being loyal customer, dont rubbish your local tack shop they will always be there
I got the numnah it apears very good quality but will let you know when it has been throuhg my washing machine a few times. Also got the travel boots and a lead rope missed the gloves but it was OH who went in and purchased as he seems to get bargains in there he bought work boots recently and they have been good quality
I think they must buy bankrupt stock, or certain lines really cheaply because they were selling disability products in our area last week for less than we as a business can buy them for (and we bulk buy in a very big way).
I wonder if they are getting really crap, copy stuff from China or the far east. Certainly as I mentioned before we could not compete with them on price, and neither could the manufactuers!

I wasn't rubbishing my local tack shop - I love it, but it is closing down
I haven't bought any Lidl stuff, but I did buy a couple of polo shirts from Aldi once, and they washed really well. I've heard loads of good reports about Lidl's stuff.
Tbh, I've paid mega bucks from saddlerys' for jods and sweatshirts that have shrunk and gone out of shape, so if something IS rubbish, I might as well pay less for it...
Last time I had a litre of Mane & Tail & some hoof balm, they were cheap but good quality & did the job, buckets & headcollars etc were ok aswell. For some things they're fine but the Tack Shop will always be needed.
I have had two rugs from them and my friend one and they are all still going strong. One of them was worn on a daily basis during the summer so I amfraid I have to totally disagree with you on that one.
Our local tack shops are super, but as someone who needs to think about costs, I think the Lidl stuff is superb. I have bought numerous different products and all of them have been excellent value for money.
I have no idea where they get their products from or how they manage to get them so cheap. I am more than happy with the quality for the price.

Someone I know very well manages some Lidl stores... according to him all the goods are manufactured in Germany (Lidl is a German chain) and the reason they can afford to offer them at such low prices is because they will make huge one off bulk buys and stift all the stock in all their stores over a week or so.
I bought one of the numnahs a few years ago and it is still going strong, comes up lovely in the wash everytime and people often compliment me on it.
Some of the stuff is naff and I certainly wouldn't want my horse head to toe in 'Lidl' but given they only have the horse stuff for sale once or twice a year I see no harm in picking up a few cheap basics
I LOVE their gloves - mine have been seriously abused competing for 1 year and have just got a hole now. They are fab give you a great feel and never slip. In fact I have tried loads out recently (Toggi, SSG, Roekel) and none come close for value and feel. They are lousy in cold weather but not designed for that!
had a few bits from lidl and aldi jods are good and for 15 pounds with a synthetic seat you cant moan still got 2 pairs from the begining of last year and i go through jods like no ones business, still got a head coller from last year to and the main and tail spray was good. i have to say the tack shops closest to are no where near as good as they used to be and some of the stuff is really expensive

I was given a catalogue with their "range" I found the one size travelling boots rather amusing but to be honest it all looked like crap to me.
I agree that a tackstore will always be needed but unfortunatly I don't have one close enough to me so I do not go on a regular basis.
I may go to Lidil and buy a few things, few headcollars and leadropes and see how they turn out.
I have heard mixed opinions about their quality so I guess I will have to try their items out for myself.
