I send the rugs off each spring to be washed and mended where necessary. i love it when they come back clean, neatly folded and sweet smelling. liners, lightweights and fleeces are done at home in the washing machine whilst OH is at the footy.
have just had to retire the oldest stable rug due to mouse damage (uneconomic to repair) after 10 years. The most used is a rambo that has the liners, I have the 100g, 200g and 300g for all eventualities. I do like to keep a spare heavyweight for each horse for when its peeing down for days so I can dry them thoroughly. I have a very old oil filled radiator in the tack room under a rug rail that will sort out one sodden rug a night.
