!'m 5ft1 and Mac is 16.3+ (he was bough as 16.3 but is bigger thant he other 16.3 on the yard and I have never dared to put a stick on him.
To be honest he is a bit to big for me I never could quite get him all together and properly between leg and hand.
So will look for something a bit smaller next time.
im 6 ft 3 and my horse is 18.3hh
anything under 17 hh and i feel too big for them and have problems when using my legs. although have been know to ride some 15hh/15.hh show cob types when helping out a dealer
i once had someone ask me (about alfie)
"can i just ask why you want a horse that big, have you got issues in the bedroom department"
my reply was "no i've sorted that hubby works regular nights"
My Cob is a 15.1 but rides up bigger than his height I'm 5ft 4" I used to ride my friends boyfriends 17.2 shire and looked like a little person stuck on top.....dog walkers asked if the air was thinner up there......Yeah very witty.......did worry when he tanked with me while trying to slow down a ton of shire not easy!!!!!!!!!
i'm 5'3 (and 1/2, a significant proportion of my height so not to be forgotten) and a size 10, my boy is 15hh and still growing, I think he's the perfect size for me. I occasionally ride my sisters 13.2hh. I really like big horses tho, had a 17hh HW when I was 12 and adored her, but anything bigger than 15.2hh would be inappropriate on our little yard, and wouldn't fit in the sand school!
I'm 5ft4 and ride a very big built and wide 16.2hh irish sports horse but feel very safe! She does go a lot better for people with longer legs though as mine are very short!
I am 59 with long legs (22.5 from hip to knee) Bruce is 17.3, and the girl I have grown up with wont let me ride her 15.1 cob as she said I make him look like a pony (legs by his shoulders)
i'm 5"6 and small built, Louis is 15.3hh. My last horse was 16.2hh and I always felt like a pea on a mountain. I personally prefere smaller more compact horses. I sat on my cousin's horse who is 17.2 and found it a little to high up for my liking!
im 5'6" and weight 11 stone. My current horse named 'FILLY' is 17.3hh medium weight thoroughbred but my last horse was 16.2hh but lightweight thoroughbred. I have long legs so anything would look stupid if it wasnt 17hh plus. although i do break in youngsters so go down to 12.2 purely for them to have more to throw off as its harder for me to come off than my 4'6 friend who owns a pony stud. depends on what use your weight and build is needed for i.e breaking or eventing etc.
Fudge is 14.3hh and heavy weight, I'm 5 foot 2 at a size 14 (am on a diet lol) I feel about right on him but longer legs would be useful
Lady's only 13.2hh height wise I'm a little on the large size, weight wise I need to lose a couple of stone as i'm much too heavy although she would still carry me, I just don't want to risk injuring her and it's a good insentive to lose weight
im about 5'6 and my neddy is 15.3ish
however my fave pony at the riding school where i have a weekly lesson and where i work at on a sunday is only 14hh and i dont look small on him either
i'm 5.5 andhave horses ranging from 16hh up to 17.1hh i have no probs with any and don't feel too small on 17.1 unless he bucks but they r hand stands!!
5'6, far happiest on a 15.2, see no reason to have anything much bigger than 16hh tbh
It really bugs me when little people have whopping great horses that they obviously cant hold together
im 4 ft 11 , and i school 2 13.2h's and im gona start riding a 14.3 (but still growing) the smallest i have ridden is a shettie (im only 7st) and the biggest is a 17.2 eventer called prairie! if im loaning something i tend to look for something between 14.2 and 15.2.
I am 5"5 and have a super 14hh pony but my legs are just so long n him now so im loking for something 5.2ish why any bigger? I would have no chance of holding it and would just have too much horse to deal with!
I'm 5'3'' and ride whatever they put me on at my riding school. I usually ride horses 16hh - 16.3. I do occasionally ride a 15.2 but generally prefer bigger horses as I think I'm too heavy for smaller ones.
