Yesterday had the most wonderful day
my friend took her pony sj at a local place for the first time , we went with the aim of doing a clear round at 1'6 , she would do the 1'6 class and then I'd take her in the 2' class. Lack of time meant I'd never even done a x pole on said pony , but warmed her up for my friend in the clear round class . Came away with a clear round and calm pony , but she over jumps everything and can spook . I'm not the most experienced jumper and even at these tiny heights it was nerve wracking lol
Her owner got 4 th in her class is did the 2' class on her and by now she was locking onto jumps and leaping them , we went clear one of only 4 to jump clear out of 12 so very happy then jump off where we came 2nd very happy .
Photos on fbook last night and someone who I know wrote why are you standing up over this jump , I admit it wasn't the best looking position m my eyes were squinting in a grimace but I'm not pulling horses mouth just standing up as she was making such a round shape over tiny jumps and can be prone to a buck . Said commenter won't jump any more even at these heights and this isn't the first time she's been negative when I've been jumping (first time was my 4 year old first show and first round of jumps and we came 4th , cue lots of praise from me and the woman says she wasn't that good )
So my rant is if you're not out doing what other people are doing in their horses and other people's ponies cos youve lost your confidence , who are you to make snide and negative comments on other people who re trying their hardest and doing the best they can to give young / novice horses and ponies the confidence they need . To me it's not the winning or looking the best it's doing the best by the horse your riding
