Little things that really grate....

Rudeness, people that over rug and those people that if you had a black cat their cat would be blacker....if you know what i mean

I agree Dollymix, however the alternative is the knot being in a place where it can undo/ break when the horse pulls on the net causing it to fall to the floor and get caught around neddies feet. Can't win with haynets I'm afraid... not nice things.

My pet hates are:

Wheelbarrows being put in doorways to stables with the horse in it. Eeek. Dangerous as hell.

Rugs and headcollars with a clip fastening being fastened with the clip pointing out so that it can hook on to anything and everything.

People not adhering to school rules.

moana's;)

Sorry, the height issue niggles but I am pretty relaxed and let people get on with their lives. One thing I do dislike very much though is people who disagree with you but won't let you have your own belief. There is rarely one 'right' answer to many equestrian situations.

and the horses who are 'really naughty' when they dont do any thing and those who post pictures of them jumping 4ft when its really not even 3ft

Novices who think they know everything, go on about how naughty their pony when it could practially be cannonised, fall off for no apparent reason, dont tell the bleeding animal off when it's ill-mannered and just sit there tense and clinging on, don't appreciate the importance of flatwork and think jumping is just charging round pointing at fences and kicking, think jumps can be used as a reward randomly when trying to settle a horse into a new arena... I could go on  :D

:D Yep that person to :D Although it wasnt originaly written about them just another morning at the yard prompted that rant .

I cant - it would make that person far too identifiable on here  Then I'd be accused to bullying, probably :o

Its ok our secret is safe ;) and its not bullying as I dont think said person would ever consider them self a novice so we couldnt possibly be talking about them :D

OMG. They've multiplied  They're taking over the world  We're doomed!

No its ok its one of the original muppets I just whitnessed the spactacle that is tacking up the other day  who knew a horse could be so rude and not get told off and a pair of boots could take so long to put on :rolleyes:

To the person that says hate moaning unless it affects you. Well what I typed are just some if the things. When you have a "speshial" gelding that you can't ride when my mares are a field away. Then bitch because my mares are in season 24/7 I get PO'd. Especially when I look in the field and see mine munching grass quietly. FWIW, mares pee too. And if you are too scared to ride in an arena say as much don't blame my mares. FYI I can do anything with my mares in season or not. Go to competitions, ride in fields next to other horses, whatever I want. They are as in mareish as you can get. I don't use hormones as an excuse. If you use them as an excuse for your gelding that's your fault. Quite how this gelding is able to show is beyond me.

Oh 4*, you weren't watching me with my big lad yesterday were you? Or that farce that was me trying to get him to get his big foot off the mare's travel boot, for about five minutes*wails*

AARRRGGHHH!!! Makes perfect sense to me and my husband and daughter both do it. Drives me up the wall!

I don't really like haynets either...but to stop the knot coming undonw, just tie a quick release and put the end of the rope, through the loop and pull. Still easy to undo!!!

I suspect "oblivious" would cover it :D And DoD you're definitely safe ;)

It was going for her head with a front leg!! but not once was it told off  then there was the please open your mouth for the bit whilst not even holding the horse.... unsuprisingly the rude git shoved it head straight up and clamped its mouth shut . I think you need to come down just for a laugh one day :D.

Sometimes I think the best thing for all concerned would be a bullet. In the head. Of the owner  People let their animals away with all sorts of nonsense

Urg, I'm jealous, seriously jealous

:D

I so want to teach it some manners, it may be horrificlly put together and to stupid for its own good (although it seems to have got the better of its owner so I'll let you draw your own conclusions about her ;)) but its going to hurt her some time soon.

Come join us theres only 2 of us jumping now and you get to meet the person who you agree with so much, in person :p:D

s'me isn't it :(

I used to pretend my 12.3 pony was 12.2 so I could go in 12.2 gymkhana classes - to be fair, he probably would have been 12.2 with his shoes off

People who make stuff up on here. I know they're lying/ exaggerating but calling them out on it is nigh on impossible. Pisses me right off, especially when I see them giving advice- I want to then add a disclaimer going "Please take with several handfuls of salt, and mostly ignore"...

Also, when people make all their horses have issues or be really naughty/ abused (pref both). It annoys me, and also I think it hinders any progress if you make excuses. It especially annoys me when I KNOW it isn't true. I desperately want to tell the old owners what some of the people are saying about them, then stand back and watch the fight!!

Oh, and people who don't think Reg is 16.3hh- "Oh, he can't be!"... Measuring stick puts him between 16.2hh/17hh, depending on how lit up he's feeling. He doesn't look quite as huge as his jockey is very leggy (5'6 tall, but her legs come to the bottom of my ribs... Cow!).

You misunderstand me ;-) If the knot (of the long piece of string that makes up the haynet) is not in the excess (ie. in the way of it being undone easily) then it will be where the main bag of the net rucks up to close the net at the top. These can come undone if tugged hard enough when the net is fastened correctly. So the net can either be done up in a quick release knot so that it isn't quick release anymore (with the knot in the excess) or so it does work as a quick release but the knot is in the body and therefore can come undone.

No win!

:p

I am useless. I freely admit it! I hope no one takes my advice too seriously as it is probably at best unhelpful and at worse dangerous. What can you do though hey?! :D

Yesterday I wished I had had a video camera on me. It was like the horsey version of the film "The Plank", honestly it was comical. I just give up and smile and play up to being a dotty old lady now - what's your excuse:D

Dropped on the head as a child? My mother did throw me down the stairs as a baby. Well, she says she dropped me, but I have my doubts that it wasn't an accident :D

People who 'mushroom' haylage bales! grrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!

Also people who can't teach their horses basic manners & then expect me to handle them while they proceed to try and drag me to the field/barge/nip etc.

People who ride 2 abreast on country lanes and don't get in single file for a car to pass, expecting you to squeeze past, then glare at you for being to close.

People who don't thank drivers that slow down or/and talk on mobiles on the main rode while riding.

I could go on................

Muzzles. Horrible things. Ride it, don't muzzle it! (serious slating coming my way!!)

Obsessive grooming. People that groom their ponies to an inch of their life before they would contemplate going for a hack. Nothing wrong with it, just wonder where people find the time! A quick sweep with a brush over tack area do mine fine.

People who ride in treeless saddles without the necessary saddle pad! Argh!

People who don't get their tack and horses back checked regularly. In my opinion it needs doing yearly AT LEAST irregardless of if you think anything is wrong.

The 'don't smack him!' owner. When I was young, there was a lady that took lessons at the riding school. A pony there full on tried to take a chunk out of a young girls arm, the girl was told off for giving him a smack. That really annoys me, a well timed smack is often the easiest thing for a horse to understand!
