People say this to me as well. I've got a SMALL 15.2hh with a narrow body and long legs. I'm a skinny 5'7 with long legs as well. With my stirrups at dressage length, they are well below her girth area.
But at the end of the day, I love her to bits and I'm not too heavy for her. We do SJ, XC and dressage together and get on great... I say let people talk. Unless you are *riddiculously* underhorsed (i'm talking tall adults on tiny ponies) or showing, this buisness about 'Oh you need a bigger horse' is nonsense in my opinon. If the horse can carry you, can perform at the level you want to perform and you get on well with him/her then stay with it.
On the other hand if you are looking for a reason to part with your horse (and I mean this nicely cos I've been there as well in the past) then saying that you want something bigger is a pretty good one
