Hi

We have a 3 month old lab x and went to our first puppy training class last night. The instructor advised us to bring rewards along next week to help with the training and recommended liver cake. His instructions were packet of ox liver, add flour to dropping consistency, 2 eggs - liquidise together and bake in oven. Said there were lots of recipes online if we got stuck.

Can anyone give me a tried and tested recipe for liver cake? I'm aware it can stink the house out when being cooked so want to get it right on the first attempt.

This is the lovely chap who will be sampling my cooking :

Thanks

I'm not sure about liver cake I have never made it - but I always used to make these tuna treats that I handed out to people who struggled in class, they worked wonders:

1 can tuna in oil, 1 egg, 80gm plain flour

Mix well and microwave for about 4 mins.
Cool, slice and dice.
Easy as pie :p

You can freeze em after dicing too if you make alot in one go - saves your house stinking of tuna more than needed!!!

LIVER CAKE

Ingredients:

8oz Lambs liver

12oz Flour

2 Eggs

3-4 Cloves of garlic

Little Milk

Liquidize the liver, garlic and eggs together. When smooth pour into another bowl containing the flour and fold in. Add the milk. (TIP – do not use liquidizer for this stage as it is too sticky.) You should end up with a heavy sponge cake type consistency.

Pour into a well greased roasting tin, (TIP – margarine is usually best for this) and bake for one and half to two hours at about gas mark 2/3, 300/320f, or 150/170c. Check after one hour.

Test if cooked – When a knife in centre comes out clean, it is done.

When cool slice and freeze.
