Have been reading through a number of posts on here and it seems alot of you guys all keep your horses on livery? woud i be right in thinking that?

just thought it would be interesting to find out how many is livery kept and how many home kept...

we have always kept the horses at home other than for sending away for schooling/breaking...

i think it would be nice in a way to have a big establishment where you would have lots of horsy friends to hack out with chat with too, but at the same time its great to look out your window and see your ned outside? besides i dont think i could afford to pay out for livery on top of everything else at the mo!

so, how do you keep your horse??

Have in the past had the horses at home which was wonderful. This was when I lived at home and again when we had a house in Surrey.
I am enjoying have my horses in a very friendly livery yard. Lots of help and advice when needed. With the added bonus of having schools indoor and out. Set of show jumps to play with which I never had at home. Schooling was in the fields with oil drums as jumps.

Bramble's kept at a DIY livery yard which is a minute's walk from my house, I have three really close friends there, one of which actually owns the yard. It's fun because we can all go down there together and one xmas eve we went on a tinsel ride and then had a picnic sat on buckets/tubs in the barn! It was great fun!

However, it would be lovely to keep my horse at home, as there are some fields that you can see by looking out of the window, by personally, I'd never move from my DIY yard, as I'd really miss seeing all my mates and having so much fun!

I think I have the best of both worlds. I keep mine at DIY in a yard of 8 on the farm where I also rent a cottage, so we have the companionship of others, keep him as I want, and can see him from my bedroom window.

I had horses at livery many, many years ago but I don't know that I ever would again - no one ever does them like you do them yourself!

I'm very lucky. I Keep mine at home from September(ish) to Beginning of April, then they get moved up to where I work which has a school, great hacking and lots of turnout. It is private house and they only have 3 ponies so it is great. I don't have to pay any livery fees and get to ride whilst I'm working!

Kept at home in the back yard.

I wouldn't have horses if I had to keep them somewhere else now.

I rent a field from a farmer and the field is a 2 min walk from my house and I can see him from the bedroom window (just)...so I guess you would class that as at home!
I would not want to keep him any other way and not on a yard at all. I love the flexibility of being able to see him when I want, ride when I want and look after him in the best way possible...24/7 out!
It would be handy to have a school to ride in during winter though as I cannot ride in the week due to being all road work.

God you are all so lucky! Mine was always kept at Full livery. I must say though, she came with me to stay in the country in the holidays and I LOVED getting up super early to feed and ride and see her from my window. My idea of absolute heaven.
