How much are people paying/think its reasonable to pay for DIY, Assisted DIY, and Part Livery and what's included/facilities?
Also what facilities would you want on a livery yard?... apart from the basic things like stable/turnout/outdoor arena.

I have been paying £130 for the last couple of months to keep a stable free for my prospective purchase (who is arriving Wed :D). When I asked for a price, I asked for feed and turnout Mon-Fri am, and was told £130- thought that was pretty good. Now been told I have to pay someone else £2/day for them to feed and turn out. Not the most impressed, as it's not as if I'd asked for a DIY rate and then changed my mind. (so £170/month).

Use of arena, 24/7 turnout in the summer and daily turnout in winter. Hay and straw not included.

I pay £16 a week for stable rent on a DIY yard, we have a small indoor school and two outdoors (only one is useable atm) with load of lovely on road and off road hacking! We have 24/7 turnout in the summer and 3/4 days in the winter.

Have to buy bedding/hay/haylage separately but straw etc can be bought from YO. Think straw is £3 a bale and unlimited haylage in winter is £12 a week for a 16.3hh horse. Not to sure on summer prices as it depends on if your horse is in or out!

Not too bad if you ask me i think i've got a good deal :D

Forgot to add we have a horse walker aswell!

I pay £130 a month, same all year round.
In winter unlimited hay and bedding is included, but not in the summer.
There is decent off road hacking, a 20x40 indoor and a 20x40 outdoor.
24/7 turnout in the summer, and daily turnout available in the winter.

Not bad I think! :)

I need to move up north!

I pay £280 for Assisted Livery, which is stable in barn, daily turnout, secure tack room and storage, 2 outdoor schools (with a 60x60 outdoor and 30x60 indoor available to hire) on-site hacking, hay/bedding/feed included, and 3 days per week full services :) oh and yard has recorded night-vision CCTV

I payed 120 a month, year round.
That was hay, haylage, straw, rubber matts, 15x18 stables, individual tack rooms with locking doors, option of 24/7 turnout, outdoor school with jumps, off road hacking to a forest and to a lake.. Was DIY but yard owner was happy to chuck haynets over and keep her eye on water :)

I'm moving tomorrow, to a farm, ill be the only horsey person there, have 4 concrete stables (massive) a barn with a tack room and another 4 stables, a 5 acre field and use of another 2 smaller fields once they've cut hay all for £200 a month, for my 2 horses and mini shettie! but I don't have use of a school, the hacking isnt' brilliant but its hacking distance to amazing hacking! and its close to where im moving to!

I'll have to buy hay and bedding in the winter, from them.

I pay £108 a month / £25 a week for DIY, extras can be added in such as rug change / turnout for £1.50, muck out £4, full livery for a day for £10 etc.

Facilities are superb, huge stone stables, really good fields, gorgeous schools (20x40 and 40x60, excellent surface) extensive cross country course and decent hacking.

Based on 14hh pony on full livery (no exercise) - 24/7 turnout, unlimited haylege, rug change, hold for farrier, vet, dentist, feed, grass turnout, etc. Two schools mon to fri (limited sat/sun) as at riding school, horse walker, 600+ acres woodland and unlimited on road to off road - no roads to woodland (30secs from gate), x/c course 25mins away to hire.

= £230pcm. (up to 375 for 18hh+)

DIY nearby 20/30 per week.

The yard is 15mins walk away so with the saving in fuel I can keep him on full livery .

X

I pay £80 per 4 weeks for my own tack room, stable 14x14, 20x40 sandschool, good hacking (beach one way Forrest the other), and 24 acres to be rotated as we wish. Hay onsite £2.50 per bale but now down to £1.50 as need to clear for new stuff.

YO checks last thing at night for us:) always someone on site.

:-)

I used to pay £25 pw per horse just for stable and turnout, everything else was extra - the paddock was so small that the grass only lasted 2 x 15hh approx 3 weeks then we also had to feed hay in the paddock.
Moved to another DIY livery yard, only thing they offered was unlimited meadow hay at an extra £6 per week, and stable + grazing was £19 per horse per week.
I now rent 11 acres for £240 per month and can do what I like there, including keeping sheep and pigs for the freezer too and have as many horses there as I want as it is the land I rent as a whole not a per horse cost :-)

I pay £7 a day (so £217 a month) for 24/7 turnout, a stable in case of bad weather, all my hay/haylage and hard feed included, as well as his breakfast being fed to him and a rug change in the morning. There is also a floodlit outdoor arena with jumps and amazing hacking. So a pretty good deal...

I pay £350 per month for part livery which includes stable, grazing, all feed, haylage, bedding, 7 day muck out. The school on site is gorgeous and there is some fabulous hacking. Also there are clinics run from the yard so can be involved or just go for a hack :)

Was paying £187 per month for assisted DIY which included stable, turnout, with the yard feeding, change rug and t/o AM and b/i, feed and rug change PM. All I had to do was muck out, do haynets and make feeds. Bedding/hay/feed not included :)

I'm in Surrey.

I pay £29 pw £10 pw extra for hay i buy all my own feed and bedding and if i have to be away from the yard i can pay £10 for my horse to be put out and mucked out but i have to provide feed.
There is an outdoor arena and amazing hacking but not sure if i am happy people are ok but then its hard when you move yards and areas and try and settle in a new place :( maybe it is people that make a yard not a yard :confused:

I agree, I've been on a yard which had amazing facilities and hacking and was 5 minutes from my house, but I only got on with maybe 1 or 2 people there so couldn't wait to leave. The DIY yard I am about to leave isn't pretty - it's a bit cobbled together - doesn't have a school onsite or amazing turnout but the people there are fantastic and I am very sad to be leaving, in fact if it wasn't for my lads breathing issue then I would stay.

Glad to see i am not alone i am in the same boat i have maybe 2 people i speak to and i find that i am always watching what i say, i am quite nice but cant seem to do anything right :confused: But as i know we are not in the area for ever i dont want to unsettle my boy too much

I pay £135 per month per horse x3,(of which my daughter now pays for one of the horses)this includes lovely brick built stables, limited storage and individual turn out, although paddocks are small, being well under an acre per horse.Lovely 60x30 sand rubber arena which is well maintained, and a little chalet for a tea room.
Have been here 4 years and love it as other liveries are great,we have a lovely social life and most of us help one another. The owners are nice, but not horsey (its a long term investment) and sometimes the they are clueless, but willing to learn.
Everything else like hay etc is in addition to livery costs. There is local hacking, but have to access it via roads, but have lived in the area all my life and know it well.
Looks like people in other parts of the UK get a much better deal though, but guess this is the downside of living in the pricey south east.
As a consequence of our equine expenses i have to cut back on things like holidays, but hey ho,that's my choice and one i willingly accept.
Think i need to encourage hubby to move judging by what some of you get, lol.

I pay £20 a week each for my 2 for stable, field, hay/shavings storage, secure tack room. We have no school atm but hes started it, just hoping he finishes it soon :D We are pure DIY, farmer does nothing apart from roll the fields for us.

I've just taken on a 6 acre patch (split into 3 paddocks) with 2 stables, tack room, 3 field shelters, water and electricity. Can get hay off one paddock and can ride in a bigger field that joins mine. Im paying £50 a week and will be keeping 2 horses and a pony there.

Totally agree with the above. I have just moved my lad from the eyewateringly expensive full livery yard which was I have to say perfect for both care and facilities with never a blade of grass out of place. To the DIY yard just down the road (which is somewhat cobbled together) and am loving it. Horse is much happier as it is a busy yard and there is much more going on and the people are lovely.

Old yard was a bit Cliquey everyone was very nice .....but I was just not happy, plus they had a Closed on Monday rule. I arranged a lesson this week and the instructor said they she had a space on Monday afternoon and I initally said "nope closed" then had to call her back and say I was going mad and that rule no longer applied:-))

Have to say in the last two weeks on the DIY yard I have had more enjoyment with my horse than I have had in ages and actually love being there (before I Used to pop up for an hour max then go again) plus it is also saving me £350 per month.

DIY at the yard I'm on is £26.50 a week and includes a stable, field and use of a large outdoor school.
Use of the jumping paddock is £5 an hour, use of the indoor is £5 an hour when not being used by the riding school. There is a horse walker which is £3 for 20 mins and all hay, haylege and straw must be bought from the YO.
