Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this thread thing so forgive me if I get it wrong!

I'm wondering if anyone can help me - does anyone know of a yard no more than 7 or so miles from South Ockendon that has the following: good all-weather school, good summer grazing/reasonable winter grazing, fair-sized stables, hacking opportunities (off-road and needs to be accessible direct from the yard), and someone on site who can offer services such as bringing in, mucking out when needed etc. I didn't think I was asking for much when I listed my requirements but I can't find anywhere that meets all of the above!!! I've tried googling but tend to keep getting the same places and I'm wondering if there are any private yards or yards that don't advertise and therefore don't come up on google. With all the searching I've done, I feel like I know of every yard within about a 20 mile radius but I'm hoping someone out there might be able to help! I like the yard I'm on at the moment (great grazing and stabling) but it is quite far away and there is nowhere to ride as the school is far too deep for my old mare!

Hope there is a livery-yard expert out there that might be able to help!

Thanks for the quick reply ghostie! I have a friend at Budges and she keeps trying to persuade me to join her there. It is a really fantastic yard, only problem is they don't allow you to take your dog there with you (oops - forgot that one on my list of requirements!!), and my dog absolutely loves going to the yard. Would be heartbreaking to leave him behind all the time. It is a possibility though, so thank you!

Thanks, I think I know where that one is. Do you know about the winter turnout there though? I thought I'd heard that there are only corrals for turnout during winter and no fields (and that sometimes there was no winter turnout at all!!). I could be wrong though! I'll check it out

Not sure, there's some yards in bulphan that look alright from the road, just seen from driving around. but don't know what they are like or the hacking. What about tylers ? That's got good hacking I think, not sure about anything else though. Think direct access to hacking is quite hard to come by around that area. I've never been on a yard that has good easy to access hacking :(

Yes I might check out Tylers - have a feeling you can get to Pages Wood from there. I know what you mean about the difficulties of finding good hacking! TBH I'd be happy with somewhere that had a track around the land so that I could ride somewhere other than the school before work in the mornings. Harwood had a lovely track round the fields but I had to leave there because of the turn out being over the road (not so bad in the summer but horses are now over there in the winter too and the road is a death trap at the best of times, let alone in the poor winter light!). I've got nice hacking where I am at the mo at weekends but only when there is someone else about to come with me (my horse does not like going out alone!). I really miss being able to hop on in the mornings during the week and ride somewhere away from the yard, just me and my horse! Thanks for your help! :)

Wow, thanks Farma! And I thought I knew all the yards in the area! U have listed a couple I didn't know about so will check them out. Am in Brentwood at the mo so dont want to go any farther out that way. I work in Billericay though so horndon would be a possibility if u think of any. I had a friend from Harwood who moved to a yard in horndon somewhere but I'm not sure where. Thanks for your help!
