I am lucky enough to be a fantastic small livery yard in Surrey -however despite it being up there with the best in terms of care and value for money -they havent been able to fill a couple of spaces that have unexpectly come about -this could be due to the fact that in the past they have rarely had spaces but now they have, they havent had much interest at all
Is this because people are just not looking at full/part livery as an option to keep their horses and choosing DIY/assisted instead or is it because people seem to be more and more obsessed with beautiful manicured fields and image pleasing yards above and beyond taking a long hard look at the people who are actually running the yard and looking after your horse?
Our yard is tidy, clean, well maintained, the team who run the yard are friendly, professional and never stroppy or moody, the liveries are all great (no bitching or nastiness) but the yard isnt a new build and because our turnout is used 365 days a year it doesnt look 'pretty' -so I am wondering if this is the problem?
I know its a competitive market but I am a bit miffed!
