I disagree that the people supplying the horses don't do anything for horses - the horses in the ads are obviously well cared for and others have identified the displays and things they do for the general public. I think also the promotion of horses for para riders is great, as they don't get nearly enough credit.I was under the impressions they traditionally used a black Trakehner stallion... Kind of sad they didn't bother this time. Nice ad though...
For those whinging, it's not like the people who supplied the horses do anything 'for horses' either. Not in the sense of giving money to a rescue or whatever anyway. So do they earn the right to do stuff with horses purely by virtue of being "horsey"? Horses don't "belong" to the horsey subset of people. Anyone can decide to "use" them in an ad and it's really quite ridiculous to imply they need to somehow have a "real" connection with horses to earn a right to do so. I am glad whenever I see something that engages non-horsey people with horses - that is a service to horses all by itself.
Exactly how I feel Goldenstar. Ive just watched it again and tbh I almost feel "how dare they". In my personal experience they are nowhere near as "by your side" when the going gets tough as a horse can be, they do not compare well in the loyalty stakes! I know its just an advert, the fact that we are talking about it, I suppose, makes it a good one but I just feel the comparison is all wrong. Doesnt stop it being a beautiful little interlude on the telly though!

Surely it's pure symbolism?
The bank has been around to the service of it's customers for 250 years.
The horse has been around for the service of mankind for 250 years and beyond.
Simple really!![]()
It's a beautiful and emotive piece of film work - I wonder if it will attract new customers for the bank? (banks...pah!)
I've always been of the opinion that any company, large or small, that uses any kind of animal for promoting itself should be bound by law to make some kind of contribution to a charity or society that works to protect that particular animal.
If Esso had coughed up some funding over the decades, perhaps the Tigers would be better off now, the company that produces Andrex toilet roll could make a substantial contribution towards dog charities......it wouldn't surprise me if Meerkats were in some kind of trouble somewhere - perhaps that insurance company would like to make a donation somewhere.
I think that perhaps Lloyds could contribute to a horse charity.....you get my drift. But yes, it's a small but beautifully formed little piece of film, full of emotion.
