Would you loan to a child of 13?
And let said child move your horse to another yard?
Ive just seen a post on a Facebook group asking about loans
a friend of mine mailed her and asks her what age she was her reply was 13 she wanted a horse to loan and wanted to move horse to a yard with no school and no hacking but intends to hack on a main road (we are miles away from her and she still wanting to loan a horse from us) it will solely be her looking after the horse, no adult with her or anything

what do you think of this.

Ps my friend has no intention to loan her horse to a young girl and who would be fitting the bill transporting his horse to her? My friend is well over 300 miles away but girl is adamant she would transport said horse to her yard.

A child of 13 cannot take on a loan without parental involvement, I would not even be starting to make any arrangements with someone of that age, they cannot sign any contract, take out insurance and it is unlikely a transport company would take them seriously. The chances are her parents have no idea what she is up to.

See I think this as well, I would touch her with a barge pole lol I would want a contract and know that my horse was being well looked after by an adult and an adult with a good few years riding and horse experience and would be wanting references too, and I wouldn't let my horse more than 30 minutes drive away from me, but that's just me,
My friend only messages her out of interest in what the situation was with her, surly the people that run the groups should be stepping in and deleting the post or putting something up about youngsters asking for loans?

Legally the child of 13 cannot sign a loan agreement, quite apart from anything else. No-one in their right mind would expect a 13 yr old to have sole charge of a horse. I doubt very much if this is anything more than pie in the sky.

I got my first horse on loan when I was 16, my mum came to view him with me but other than that had no involvement with him really, he was my horse, my responsibility.

A year later I bought him and 9 years on he's still with me. My first horse who will live out his days with me.

Bless a child dreaming as no doubt many of us did when young. i know i did. But no I certainly would not loan to a minor with no parental involvement .
