You'll need a non combustible hearth too .

Yes its in completely the wrong place.... we had stone floors, then fitted machined oak flooring over it, to comply with Building Regs we need a non combustible hearth, but where it is in the house is at the end of a corridor so we'd be tripping over it all the time. We're planning to replace it with one of the floating log burners, so I guess its heading for ebay.

Just put a hearth stone in the inglenook, no need for it to stick out.
