London International horse show

That horse took a heavy fall, just because he/she isn't lame doesn't mean they haven't horribly pulled their neck/back etc. Should not be jumping again.

Watching people be entertained and laughing at distressed animals is honestly making me nauseous, how is this any different to circus animals?

There is no way there isn't going to be at least bruising in that chestnut horses mouth, I honestly feel like I've woken up from some strange brainwashing/conditioning over the last few years.

It makes no sense to me that the judges are calling Nathan's round a clear. Both horse and rider fell clearly linked to clattering the jump
I don’t know if I am enjoying the repeated slow-mo replay of his fall, either. Sometimes the most innocuous fall can be more serious than at first appearance and that looked pretty rough to me?!

I think the Puissance has had its day. Overfacing horses in the name of sport, pushing their good natures to beyond their capabilities…. I just don’t find it entertaining, and it creates bad images which equestrian sport can ill afford right now
I've never understood why commentators always talk about it being the spectacle everyone wants to see. I'd much rather see them go round a course of jumps rather than one single one, I find it more interesting.

For years my friend would argue that the Puissance was vile. Pushing horses until most of them inevitably fail and knock the fence. I just used to shrug it off.

Now I fully agree.

My non-horsey friend found it highly entertaining, I didn’t. I cant believe the commentators were laughing about it all. I’m glad Rachel won because she is a fabulous rider. Nathan was also a good rider but it was too much for his horse today. Jack was also fabulous today.

I've never enjoyed watching it, even when I worked with sjers, I've never seen the appeal, and nothing has ever changed my mind on it.

I think if anything’s a shock that it’s being cleared, then it shouldn’t be jumped. We should never set horses up to fail. Puissance does sit here, but some horses really thrive on it too. I’d rather see them jump something super narrow rather than something super high. Skill over sheer power any day. I used to love puissance as a kid, I now feel mostly uncomfortable, but just some horses I really enjoy watching them jump the wall - like Mr Blue Sky and Rachel’s horse tonight. The walk out chilled and just seem to thrive in it.

I find the Six Bar worse, it’s terrifying.

I'm late to the party, just watching on catch up.

I really think the commentator could do better. Insted of saying the first round is low enough to give the horses confidence, or to encourage them, he waffles about course designers knowing what they are doing.

When Seb Hughes very quietly and nicely retired his horse, who obviously wasn't keen on jumping the wall, he blamed the rider for riding TOO quietly. He could have made a real SLO point , but instead basically did the opposite :(
