Just passing through...
Grey Mare was kicked a few weeks ago (front of thigh).
Treated with Danilon and antibs.
Started with cellulitis so maintained treatment (vet visits).
Was loose in yard, with one stabled for company. GM stressed and bent the new five metal gate. Checked with vet who said try her out. Did so and she was calm and good.
Yesterday morning D saw her cantering on three legs. Vet was out afternoon to held Titch. Had a look at GM. Long exterior tendon very inflamed in front of hock. Audible 'click' on flexion. No apparent pain in that area, though tender higher up.
She'll go to Oakham early next week for X-rays and scans.
Looking for info, prognosis (hard I know when we don't know exactly what we're dealing with), and anything we can be doing now to help her.
She's back out as when stabled she kicks the door, with the Sidebone hoof that's not meant to be having any concussion...
