dont worry about it fatarse (I cant believe I jus called u that!!), you never know what the horse will look like with a hog unless u try it! and it will grow back so is not the end of the world!
it is a bit of a crappy photo, but I will promise to get a better one of her tomorrow, ahem, looking terribly out of place in a RC novice workers line up
Goodness! People are being awfully unpleasant to poor fatarse!
She never claimed that her horse was a top-class show cob - she just said 'cob'! And it was only a jokey post anyway - she was at least partly laughing at the idea that one can make a horse a cob just by hogging its mane!
Anyway, even if people don't think her horse qualifies as a cob, surely there are ways of saying this without being horrid?!
Cob or not, it's a nice-looking horse - and I think fatarse is being remarkably good-natured about all the unkind remarks.
I think she's got a very sweet face which is seen to best advantage in first pic. I also think the mane is irrelevant. Someone once told me I should hog PF (then she'd look like a polo pony) and someone else said I should leave her mane long (I think it looks hideous) Actually, hogging is common practice here to keep burrs out of the mane... Anyhoo, tastes are very personal and subjective, so I'm at a loss to understand why people are being so harsh about what they think is essentially an unflattering haircut
htobago, hatters and PF, Thanks guys, I didn't realise how seriously some folks took their horses!
It is a cruddy pic, but tbh the main reason was a time issue, and she seems perfectly happy without. She has the added bonus of being irrestistable to the TB hooligans now, (not sure whether she is actually bothered about them though!).
Heavens above anyone should make life easy for them and their horse eh?
I think she is a pretty girl.. I prefer the with mane pic (but I love manes), She is your horse and no one has the right to tell you whether to hog or not.
Jeez its only a haircut I dont understand why people are getting so worked up about it..
FWIW i think she looks fabulous hogged, but then i'm a big fan of hogged horses (always have to have one skinhead on my yard!
) I can never seem to understand the argument about the flies either, my little cob never seems to have a problem with them and he's hogged. It does make life so much easier though, plaiting wise, once you're hunting you'll wonder why you didn't hog her sooner!!
Good luck for today with the Novice Workers, i'm sure she will do very well indeed! Let us know how you get on!!
I am ashamed at the childishness showed by a couple of this thread- You conceited little people. This was a fun thread, where a member was showing off her bonny horse with a new haircut, and you try to turn it into the greatest conspiracy of our time.
I like hogged horses, and I think your horse looks just fine, if anyone feels the need to look back at pictures of the good old days, you will see Harry Llewellyns Foxhunter periodically was hogged, and that was a horse that won medals at two consecutive Olympics for Show jumping!
No one said to him, it can't be a show jumper if it's hogged!
