.........On Google Maps!! You know you can use the little man and view from the roadside etc :D
Wellll I FOUND LADY AND DANDY ! And The Old Horse But She Isnt In The Photo....

Has anyone else tried looking for their horse on google maps?? :p
 
I drove past your field the other day :D I knew it was yours as I recognised Lady. Tried to take a photo but it came out blurry :(

And yes, I have tried to use Google in this way, but our horses weren't out :( They came past again on Thurs but again, horses weren't out !
 
I love google street view! There are some hilarious images on it like this person pretending (I hope) to shoot someone

And another guy was holding up a sign asking someone to marry him!!! :p
 
Yes we had ours on Google Maps, but asked for them to be removed, as you could see right in to our yard, OH felt it was a bit intrusive.
 
All mine were on google maps and ihave requested for them to be taken down as you are able to see the horses and as we were riding at the time you can also see what the horses can do.

What were they doing balancing on a ball, juggling, having a sneaky carrot...how strange?!!?

Your telling me that a car driving past with a camera strapped to it's roof has taken a picture which is so clear that you can see your horse what...trotting, cantering...sneezing? What were you doing with your horse that was so top secrete?

I understand if you can see peoples faces and they want them blurred out but not because you might get a still photo of a horse in movement?!!?

LOL, Anyway. My horse wasnt out the day the car drove past our field but my friend is turning hers out and is pictured filling his water bucket...she thinks shes famous!!!
My horse is on Google Earth (the aerial shots) but it doesn't get close enough to see "what he can do"!!! It's just a brown blob!!!

Mine are also on the birds-eye-view also with my jumps course loads of coloured blobs dotted round the field :p

I must admit it worries me too. So many horses are stolen and Google street maps can show 'them' easy access points and weak spots.

One of my ex-staff members was caught by the camera--- sitting on a park bench smoking a massive spliff!! Ooops.
 
they obviously didn't use the HD cameras where my boy is now or where he was before because whilst there are horses in the fields, they just look like indescriminate blobs.

In fact, they could be mistaken for cows, sheep or people sunbathing if you didnt know it was a yard.

Jadeyyandladyy - how did you get that pic so clear?! was it streetview?
 
I think some people need anti paranoia medication. You know how else people can see weak spots? By walking around the field and looking. Thats probably how most of them do it. Jeeze.

Google earth doesn't go far enough up the lane to see ours, but i did try a while back. Google maps still says the new housing estate behind the field, which has been being built for over 18 months is a hospital. They mustn't care about us :(

Ah well, at least it apparently means our horses are theft proof. Unless i find a tangle in their manes. Lucky i put about half a bottle of baby oil on them today :p

Bit unnecessarily rude, eh? Especially since you don't know where I live or the personal validity of my comment. Walkers would be noticed, anyone can sit at home and use google. No paranoia required thank you.
 
Google Streetmaps can be over 3 years old...you don't think they managed to drive around the whole of the UK last week?
Yes some of the photos are very clear, however do you really think thieves are sat at home thinking..."I wonder on the off chance, that google maps has a really clear, up to date photo of that yard and hopefully a picture showing me what that horse can do"!!!

Anyone can drive past your yard, at anytime and look at your horse...if your that vigilant you would have seen the Google car go past that had a 5 foot camera strapped to it's roof!!!

I understand people being security consious however is this really in the grand scheme of things a big threat?

Half the horses that are in the photo of our yard have left or are blurry...

The pictures on that site are the same as a thief looking at a yellow pages, finding your yard address and driving past, taking a photo...at least it would be an up to date one!!!
 
Well, if you lot are happy with the way the world is going and the decrease of privacy coupled with the rise of Big Brother watching over our shoulders, then so be it.

And for those whose IQ has decreased as the size of their plasma screen has increased, no, I am not referring to the TV show.
 
Just found my yard but the horses weren't out in the field you can see clearly from the road but the trailer was in the photo so it was ovbs in the summer sometime cos the YO didn't get it til about july and sold it august/september time haha.
 
I found ours on Google Street View - It's weird, because Emma is the only horse in the field staring straight at the camera... It made us all cry when we saw it (Emma was PTS about a year ago).

As for Google Street Maps invading privacy - They aren't. They're taking photos of something I could see with my own two eyes perfectly legally. In fact, you could probably get google to send you the IP and address of anyone who has looked at your road with Google Street Maps in case of a robbery... which you CAN'T do with Walkers... which actually probably makes it more secure!

But I really doubt anyone is going to use it without having cased the joint first in person. And this is coming from probably the most paranoid person you'll ever meet! So if you're more worried about it than I am... LOL!!!
 
Jade, if there had been any humans in the field I would have hollered :D Was on my way to Oxford and I always go that way and over the bridge if I am going to that end of Oxford :D Was behind really slow traffic and OH was driving so I was looking left and recognised Lady!

Yep, if you use the little orange man and drag him to the street you can see into a section of my field :) I just PrintScreened and saved the picture.
There was also another horse a few meters away from Lady in that photo who died two years ago so the photos are a few years old :)

Mine is on, but you can only see her as a white horse shaped splodge on the aerial photo, plus its from 3 or 4 summers ago. There's no street view and I think I would ask for it to be removed if she were as I wouldn't want that available to general public.
