My neighbour rather shares our pets
(with her blessing) both Popple and Dinky (the cat) come and go in her house and garden as it it were their own
However, recently her brother who was lodging moved out, her elderly father died last week
and although her son is often around in the day, he is in a band so is not always home in the evenings...
She is finding it VERY hard being in an empty house, and the other night needed me to go in with her when she got home as she was nervous
I have suggested to her rehoming an adult dog as a companion and to make her feel more safe, and she is VERY keen
The dog would have lots of company and endless love, as myself and her son are around in the day and her and my mother in the evenings (we have a gap in the hedge of our gardens and out households sort of merge
). Her and her son used to take Puppy, and now Popple for lots of walks and he takes Pops to play football
So exercise and company is not a problem at all, we are well equipped...
We would really like an adult dog that doesn't need exhausting constantly (no collies!) but one that is still active for lots of walks and playing ball with Popple
So they must be friendly with other dogs, and cats. We would like something medium size, and pref smooth coat - i.e a lab cross sort of thing. The doggie must be sociable and not the nervy type as the son has music students he teaches from their home, and they have a lot of guests.
No bull breeds please. A "family" type dog. We are in Cambridge and would really like one nearby as she doesn't drive, so I would be taking her, and I am incredibly busy with rowing atm so sadly can't commit to driving too far.
I've seen a nice looking chap at the dog's trust in Snetterton

But wondered if any of you lovely people knew of a poochie needing a new home and lots of love
Thank you in advance
