Hello,
I'm currently on the hunt for new long boots, ive got a pair of tredsteps and at first I loved them but they've stretched over 2 years and only worn for comps and hunting, so won't be going back to them(I can now store my chunky whip in them while having a drink! Not ideal but handy). I'm not a fan of ariats as they are so bulky on my legs and they seem to fall apart (I've had so many paddock boots and chaps that just don't last)
I'm looking for off the peg preferable brown and quite tight fitting(I find it helps with my leg position) I don't mind forking out a bit but I'm not interested in custom because I'll break them!

Or if anyone has taken to have their boots taken in has it worked? Because I love the look of my tred steps and they're on great condition but they are just too baggy now, there's no elastic on my pair so I don't know if taking them in would work

I still have my Regali Ricchi boots from about 16 years ago (if not more) I love them, they have lasted really well, I have looked after them but not terrifically well. They were by Sarm Hippique so although they don't make those ones any more I would definitely look for the same brand again if I ever needed more.

I've just bought De Niro boots, they are gorgeous. Not as princely as Ariats and very comfy so far.

I hadn't thought of de niros! They look pretty!
The one thing I don't like about my boots is the leather is so hard even after lots of conditioning!
I do like the look of sarm hippoque but I don't know if my budget stretches that far :(

Conditioning will certainly contribute to the stretching of the leather. You need to buy so tight you can only just get them on with a fight and wear them at home over nothing more than thick tights until them mould to you. Currently doing this with my Ariat chaps; first time out I lost feeling in my feet and had blood blisters behind my knees :( They're marginally less painful now but still need more work!

They were super tight they were extra slim and I'm certainly far from extra slim it was because they were the last ones left! :( but I think it's because there isn't any elastic on them, I don't think they make them like this anymore because they stretch so easily, because the elastic has give in it but the leather doesn't :( that's only an assumption
