Lorry Ramp - What to Cover it with?

We spent yesterday replacing the wood on my lorry ramp but now need something to go over the top.

I would ideally like a rubber covering with the raised ridged, can anyone recommend a good place to get the from? Preferably light weight and as cheap as possible?

Open to any alternative suggestions?
 
I've got carpet which I hate because it looks messy. It is however v v v light and hard wearing and come up like new once pressure washed... Still hate it though :(

That's what puts me off about carpet :( Where did you get yours from just out of interest? Stepdad is worried that carpet would hold water/damp and make the wood rot quicker. Has this been an issue with yours?
 
Being a skin-flint, I used redundant quarry conveyor belting. You might get some free at your local quarry as they discard it when it breaks. But it is smooth, so slippery. My solution was to fixed 50mm x 25mm oak battens across at, say, 150mm spacing. Unfortunately, the oak was not free but it made a neat hard wearing job!
 
If you have a standard sized lorry ramp, you can buy preformed rubber matting to put on them.

The other alternative would be coconut matting.

I would go for the first option

I chose a special rubber very small squares and each inch of rubber can withstand 5 toms of horse. Its not cheap and since i made the ramp out of 18 ml marine ply I wanted the best.

And they don't slip either

Be careful not to use the shiny rubber as it get very slippery especially when damp. I borrowed a lorry with this kind of rubber and my youngster slipped to her knees, causing her to refuse to load... (she is barefoot)
 
Mine is carpet, looks fine and is very light and totally non-slip. Have nearly put my back out, slipping on rubber mats so would be very careful about what you use.
