there has been more press coverage this week in some of the local papers still stating that the horse hasn't been found. There was an interesting post on the lost/stolen section on here about someone supposedly having been seen riding a horse late at night through Camber. I am quite local to the area and haven't heard anything more.I just hope that the person who posted about the horse being ridden late at night reports it to the horses owner or at leasts gets in touch with the Lydd camp and the police to report what they saw so that the information can be checked.
I personally think someone has him!
(they have done a mass search of the range and found nothing?they should have at least found a body?unless he got out somewhere else on the range and continued running, which they do when terrified)
Which if he is being cared for and loved then a better outcome than him dying in a ditch
,however dosnt detract from the fact he would then be stolen!I hope this is what has happened for the horses sake!
I have been following this story when it first appeared but I have never seen a picture nor description of this racehorse - has anything been published so we can keep a look out? Perhaps someone is waiting for the REWARD fee!!!!
Horses don't just disappear into thin air...and if he was sitting in a field somewhere on Romney Marsh i think he'd probably stand out...and racehorse in amongst the sheep and marsh ponies...hmmmm....
Has anyone else wondered if just maybe the horse was well insured ????????????????
it also featured on the news alongside a picture of him.If somebody has stolen him then they must know he is being searched for as there has been a fair bit of publicity locally. I can't help but wonder if someone has him, given the post in stolen section on here.
The horse is quite distinctive having seen the first link above. He's bay with a white sock on his near hind, but most importantly, he has a patch of grey hairs on his right shoulder, about the size of a handprint. Also has a small star.
If someone does have him & rode him back that night it seems odd that an average rider could just hop on board a racehorse (who's had a traumatic experience), presumabley wearing a racing saddle & hack it through Camber (is that a built up area?).
Camber isn't a built up area.It is basically one main route with lots of little back roads which lead to the beach. It isn't that well lit along the main road but lit enough to notice a horse being ridden along it.Perhaps it may be a good idea for the owners of the horse to put up posters asking for information in the area. That way maybe whoever supposedly saw this horse being ridden will come forwards and give the information to the right people.
I am local to lydd - bout 20 mins away, and I asked my friend about this at the weekend who happens to be a police officer AND has a horse....she hadn't heard anything about it. I'm not suggesting the owners haven't done enough, just pointing out that possibly a lot of horsey people in the area still dont know.

Yes - I think it's an insurance job! I half wonder whether the horse actually exists at all, or at least, ever set foot on Camber sands!!
I posted about a horse being seen ridden through Camber late the night that it happened. This WAS reported to the police. I also think that this is all a bit fishy. For instance it was origanally stated that the local police showed no interest, only last weekend a group of ponies escaped from a local field and the police ( Rye station) were out in force finding the ponies.I find it hard to believe that if this was reported that the same police showed no interest. It was also said that this horse was being trained on the sands as the gallops were frozen but how many racehorses train alone and why send just one of them. And who would find a racehorse at night in a racing saddle and be able to just jump on and hack it home!
I contacted several friends on my mailing list in that area and they didn't know anything. I'm not saying that's conclusive proof that anything is suss, it's just odd. When some horses got out of their field about 5 miles from mine recently, the local yards rang round and round and everyone for miles was out looking for them within an hour.
