If the day should come when I'm in pain,
And you know I won't be well again,
Promise you'll do what must be done,
If this is the battle that can't be won.
It'll break your heart, but please be kind,
Don't let your grieving sway your mind.
For this is when you'll let me see
Just how much you do love me.
Together we've had happy years
The future now can hold no fears.
Please don't let me suffer so
When that days comes, please let me go.
For my usual vet please will you send?
But stay with me until the end.
Hold me steady, speak to me
Till my once bright eyes no longer see.
In time I hope you'll come to see
It's the last kindness you'll do for me
One more time please stroke my mane
And know that I'll have no more pain.
And don't be sad that it was you
Who decided this was what to do.
We've been such buddies through the years
Don't let me be the cause of tears.
So sorry for your loss....I hope your daughter is ok soon. Perhaps you could let her name a star after him...this hasnt happened to us yet but when it does this was suggested to me.
So, so sorry. Any positives? Yes, for the fun and memories he has gven you and that you were there for him when he needed you. I send you my very sincere condolences for your devastating loss x
I'm so, so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine how your daughter must be feeling but I hope both of you find some consolation in him being at home and the vet dealing with it so quickly some sort of comfort.
So sorry to hear of your tragic loss (((((HUGS))))) to you and your little girl.
It happened to my beautiful show hack many years ago - she didn't want to go back on the trailer after a show, reared up, sat down - she didn't fall but I heard a small click. She never got to her feet again and I sadly had her PTS at the show ground.
The vet too said it was most unusual as the Femur is such a thick bone.
Oh gosh, I am so sorry for you, your little girl and poor Jeff pony. Hopefully soon your daughter will be able to draw comfort and happiness from the many happy memories she has of their time together.
It is very sad when you loose your horse! i lost my old boy in april and there is not a day that goes by when i don't think of him. I had a braclet made from a cutting of his tail and i wear this when i go to shows on my other horse. It gets better but not forgotten
I'm so sorry to read this.
Try to remember the happy times, Although I know how hard this is it is how he would want to be remembered. He knew how much you loved him and he wouldn't want to be the cause of such upset. You did the best by him and were there for him at the end. I'm shore he will be forever greatful to you for that.
((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))) to you, your daughter and your family.
