Lovely purebred ID over there >>>>>>

Just been to Keysoe to sort everything out... She will be arriving next week.

Scapegoat volunteers welcomed... So far, the story is that there will be a horse there for me to ride from next week, which is NOT a lie. Although if he infers that I'm helpfully exercising it for someone, that's not my fault... The yard is nine minutes from here, so v v convenient.

I can then 'buy' it if I like it, so I will look v v sensible by having it on trial and riding it a lot before I 'make my mind up'...

Eeeeppp, I need to remember what I've done with my competition clothes and black jacket. I think I may have sold my long boots. OMG, I can't believe that I'm nearly up and running again...!!

Super story 😂

Well done...

Fiona

Wishing you both a wonderful time together. How wonderful. Nothing better imo than a grey ID 😜

Sometimes you just had to go with your gut feelings. I saw an advert when we were supposed to be looking for a loan, whoops, we purchased a pony instead! I came home with a foal from one of the drifts, actually, that's happened twice :D. I went to view a foal, which I was going to buy from the moment I found out her breeding, spent more than my hubby thought I was going too, lol. Had a pony sent down from Nottingham on loan unseen and tried. Mad? Probably but you only live once so make the most of it.

I hope she is everything you want. I look forward to seeing more pics and hearing how you get on together.

Do it! Do it! Do it...! I will post re how mine turns out. I know it’s mad, but it’s so exciting to see exactly what will turn up...!

:D I’ll look a bit longer as I’m not in a hurry and wait for Goldenstar to point out something lovely as she knows what she’s talking about Horse wise.

I do quite like Sean though.....

I bought a Chestnut ID gelding from Gerty in February sight unseen and without the benefit of video as the horse was not actually intended for sale and the weather was too awful. Gerty was a pleasure to deal with and the transport to the UK that she arranged was seamless. My horse unfortunately arrived with sinusitis and had a hole drilled in his forehead on the 13th so that we could repeatedly flush the sinus with saline. The catheter was removed yesterday and the hole will heal quickly now. The diagnostic CT scan showed that the sinuses on one side of his head were so full of pus that they had the same density as the surrounding bone. The mucosa was all bruised and his septum a bit deviated from the pressure. Who knew? The sinus was constantly draining out one nostril and we all assumed that the horse was not too uncomfortable otherwise he wouldn't be so sweet tempered right? This good, honest five year old horse has never shown any bad temper or unwillingness and I have absolutely no regrets. A lot of people have gleefully told me I was rooked but he had a five stage vetting very shortly before he was shipped to me and there is no way Julie of Wessex Horse Transport would have loaded him with a shipment of others with snot pouring out his nostril looking all the world like strangles. I have a well bred horse with fabulous conformation and a wonderful character for a very keen price and I think I am very lucky.

Wow! I bet your horse feels a LOT better now! Well done for getting it sorted! They are so stoical, aren’t they?

Sussex, Sean is sold! I originally put a deposit on him but I was too late. However, I had the wind in my tail that evening so transferred it to Summer!

I have got schedules for Keysoe, so can pore over them later and find some stuff to do. Even a pole work clinic would be stupendously thrilling after so many years of nothing!

I went to my first pole work clinic recently it was so good for me and the horse .
The horse ( the one I bought from Ireland at Christmas ) can seriously jump but he really struggled to to the canter exercises it really showed me how much more there will be to get from him if I really deal with the basics he missed early on .
And it really nailed my position a much easier way to work on jumping position than actually jumping
I bet your sooooo excited I picked up Harvey from a lorry park at a motorway service station I was nearly crying with a mixture of excitement and worry by the time the lorry came in .
The worry was would I recognise him and would I think omg what was I thinking when I tried him.
Poor boy he had a very long journey as he had three hours to head north after pick up he was exhausted .
I can’t wait to here how yours goes on .

I have a grey ID I would love much more if he where liver chestnut in winter he hunts twice a week and we spend a lot of time together in the horse shower area.
He’s going really white and flea bitten he does look magnificent all dressed up and clean.

Quite, Goldenstar. I had two greys before Trev, who is bay. So spent years with the hose, bathing every week, water down my sleeves, standing with tails in buckets, etc. Then I discovered the joy of grabbing a bay from the field and chucking it in the lorry with it barely seeing a brush, and swore off greys. Well, that went according to plan, didn’t it...?!

Haha, Peregrine Falcon, you are worse than me...! Well done! Life would be boring if we were all sensible all the time!

well what can I say , I went off to IReland before Christmas ,having come across Harvey after a thread on here and came home with another grey .
You would like him he’s got Cruising as a dam sire and clover hill as a greatdam sire and the great Contendo as the sire with that breeding he’s was only going to be grey however I can live with scrubbing for breeding like that .

Erm, my (fairly) new one is grey too. Eeek. I did not really want a mare or a grey, yet have both in her!

Been washing most mornings. On the bright side she used to get 'all unnecessary' at the production of a warm, damp sponge. Nowadays she is AOK to be blasted whilst merely ground tied in the yard with the cold hose!

ETA - I have decided that actually grey is the way to go. After all, a grey is hygienic! You see the muck, you wash the muck off. The thought of all those unseen but ever present poo patches on my ginger horse....

Good luck Catembi. Keysoe is local to me and the facilities are great although I have not liveried there. Beware of the giant champagne bottle during the dressage tests...it is evil and lurks in corners just waiting to jump out at you. Seriously though, if you can you can ride your horse at Keysoe then you will be able to ride it anywhere as it can be pretty intimidating for the horses.

Ooh I like! Cruising's are the best. I have a son of Cruising. He's chestnut but from what I've heard of Cruising their personalities sound similar. In other words quirky:) However he has never once refused a fence and is a real people horse, very affectionate.

He is also very good natured. An eventer friend once said he's the type of horse who'd die for you. He also pointed out that my other horse would not :D

Unfortunately my Cruising horse has a heart problem so he had to give up eventing.

Ah brilliant:)
I went to Aldi to buy a pair of breeches and had to confess to OH a few hours later I had actually bought a horse, she is Irish and a right cracker:)
Hope you and your new lady have many fun times together, it would be lovely to hear how you get on and how your OH takes the news.
Thank you for your reply earlier, I have only just caught up with this thread and will pass it onto my friend. Good luck with the stable building and enjoy your lovely new lady :)

Goodness, they sell everything in Aldi!

I have dug out my tack and been to my parents’ to ‘visit’ (i.e. to dig out my competition clothes as they’ve been looking after unneeded clothes, duvets etc while I’ve been between houses...) OMFG, I am so excited...!!

I LOVE this. Wishing you many years of fun and happiness with her Catembi. I think I'd have to tell OH that I'd fallen in love with her within a few days and therefore bought her but will be keeping her there until house is ready. I'm not sure I could keep it up for 4 weeks! Won't she need a companion though? More horse shopping :D

Annagain - I already have a Shetland mare who is living at the same place as the dogs (o/h is aware of Shetland & dogs), and an ex-racer who is currently in retirement livery. So no shortage of companions! The subject has also been broached in a v circuitous way, and I think enough reading between the lines has now occurred that everyone knows there has been an increase in headcount! I feel better now...I don't like deceit, but I had a sudden rush of blood to the head when buying her & then it was too late to discuss it in an 'open and transparent' fashion, to use compliance-speak...!

Ah good. All's well that ends well!
