I don't post in here very often but am just wondering if any of you can help.

I have just had some blood results back from the vets which show that my Horse has a Low Blood Cell count, presumably caused by a virus.

Has anyone got any experience of this? How long did it take your horse to recover? How did you treat them?

Any Vets here that can explain in more detail what this means?

(Please see New Lounge for full details)

My lad had a nasty virus a couple of years ago.He really went off his food and was very uninterested in everything, his bloods came back a low white count.I put him on to Echinacea (sp) and that really picked him up.It really helped with his cell count as it was high in Iron and helped his immune system fight the virus.I think it was made by Global herbs.

Same thing with my horse picked up a virus could not be ridden for the whole of one Summer gave Echinacea and his blood cell count gradually came up. Also grazing in the Summer sun helped. The Ec was in liquid form from the Health Food Shop cheaper.

My horse has had a long running thing with anaemia...he's on Propell Plus atm every day with a monthly haemoglobin njection from vet...

probz not the same thing but gives you more research!
