I was born on the welsh hills. Wild and free without a care in the world. I could run and play all day and go wherever i pleased. But after a few years my peace was disturbed. Some Humans came and loaded me and some of my herd into a lorry. It was dark and cramped in the lorry. I was very afraid, I didn't know what was going to happen next.
We where finaly unloaded into a large yard. I could no longer feel soft grass under my feet, now it was cold, hard concrete. The humans where not nice to us they pocked and prodded, pushed and shoved and always shouted very loudly.
One day they tried to put some mettle in my mouth and something heavy on my back. I was very afraid and didn't let them do it. They pushed and shoved me and shouted very loudly. Then they hit me alot but i wasn't going to let them do it. After a few days i was put back in the dark lorry and moved to a new place with different humans. I hoped theses would be kinder but i couldn't have been more wrong. I still didn't have grass under my feet, in this place i was shut in a stable without food or water for several days. I was very hungry and thirsty and the stable was very small and smelt horrid. Just when i thought the humans where going to leave me there to die they came in with the mettle and heavy thing. I was to hungry to argue and they put it on me. Next one of the humans got on and sat on me. They led me round i was so week i could hardly carry the human but they hit me with sticks to make me walk on. After, they let me have a drink but they still didn't give me any food. The next few days where all the same they would put the stuff on me, get on and i would walk around. If i didn't want to go they would hit me. I was still to hungry to argue so i just did what they wanted. Then i was aloud to have some food, Just some dusty old hay but boy did i feel alive again. The next day when they got on me i had the energy to throw them off. They got back on and hit me lots but i wasn't having any of it. I bucked and reared and kicked out like i used to as a foal. After that i felt prity pleased with myself i showed them who was boss and they put me in a field. There wasn't much grass just lots of weeds but i didn't care it was better than that dirty, smelly stable and i could move around and had a new friend called Polly.
My happyness didn't last as lots of Humans used to come and chase me round the field and hit me. The small humans used to come and stand at the fence, They called me Satan and threw things at me like bricks and bottles it hurt when they hit me but they just laughed.
One night a lorry came to the field. Some new humans i hadn't seen before pulled the fence down and herded Polly and i into the back of the lorry. We where driving for hours and when we got out it was morning. We where put in a field. A nice field with lots of grass and no weeds. There where ponies in the fields around who all looked happy and like they had bellies full of food. The new humans came to see us that day i was scared that they where going to hurt me so i ran to the other end of the field. Polly was alot older than me and even in our last field the humans where nicer to her. She let the new humans catch her. I didn't want anything to do with humans anymore all they did was hurt me.
I was left in the field to eat and there was also a big mettle thing full of water, i could have a drink whenever i wanted. I was happy here but little did i know a few months later my life was going to change again. The other ponies started telling me one of us was going to be sold and as i didn't do anything other than eat it was going to be me. Another couple of months went by. Afew different humans came and looked over the fence but they all left again and i was still in my field eating the lovely grass. After a while the other ponies started telling me noone wanted a pony they could not ride or even catch, they started calling me Pedigree chum and saying i was going to the glue factory. I thought they where just being mean. This nice human wouldn't do that to me? One day a small human came and looked over my fence. My human wasn't with them so i trotted off across the field. I heard the small one say "I hope it's her she's beutiful". Then my human came I stood at the other end of the field and couldn't hear what they where saying but a few days later a lorry arrived. Polly was taken out of the field and several humans herded me into the lorry. I was now more afraid than ever where was i going now? Would it be nice? was i going back to the bad place with the dark smelly stable? Or was i going to this glue factory the other ponies had been talking about?

Aww poor little lucy, i never realised she had had SUCH a bad start in life! Shes so lucky to have found you! Hope there is more story to come i love reading things like this. Should do one for my boy he didnt exactly have the best start

We arrived and i was unloaded into a field. It was another nice field with lots and lots of grass. I wasn't taking anychances though and if a human tried to enter the field i chased them off. If they didn't run i would try to kick them. Noone was going to hurt me again. The small human i had seen at the field in my old home came up everyday. She would come in the field several times a day and i would chase her out. This went on for weeks till one day she just sat on the gate and cryed. I kept my distance for a while but then wondered closer to have a look. She stopped crying and started speaking to me in a soft voice. I had never been spoken to like that before. This small human didn't seem to want to hurt me and she wasn't throwing things at me. Over the next few days i got closer and closer to the small human. One day when i was quite close she did throw something at me but she missed. I sniffed it and it smelt good. It was orange and long. I took a bite and it tasted nice. She trow another one but it landed quite close to her. I took a deep breath and walked over. I wanted to eat the orange thing. The next thing i knew i was eating out of the small humans hand. She told me her name was Laura and she was never going to hurt me. She was 14 and i was her first pony. She told me everyone was telling her to have me put down but we where going to prove them all wrong. Six months had passed by this point and i finaly desided to let Laura catch me. She took me into a yard and gave me a groom and some food, then she put me back in the field. We did this for another six months. During that time she tried to put the mettle and heavy thing on. I remember what happened last time so was not keen for this to happen again. But Laura did not shout at me she didn't even hit me she just let me take my time with it all so in the end i let her put it on.
Next Laura tried to get on me. I was having none of this. I threw her off.
Again she did not shout or hit me, she just stood up and tryed again. I threw her off several times but she would not give up, She just kept getting back on quietly and calmly. Everyday she got on me I tried to throw her off. She got better and better at staying on. Everyone was laughing at her but she refused to give up, She kept on trying and never lost her temper. Everytime i did as she wanted she gave me a big pat and something nice to eat. If i was naughty she just said "NO" and asked me again. Everyday my confidance grew and i felt myself trusting this small Human. She believed in me and was always kind. I started to enjoy my life and i discovered jumping which was so much fun. I could jump realy high. We went to places where there were lots of jumps and lots of other ponies we jumped round the jumps and often got a prity ribbon. I always got a pat and something nice to eat. I also discovered the best thing in the whole world, hunting.
All the people who had been laughing at as to begin with whern't laughing anymore. Quite afew years passed and i had moved to two new homes Laura always came with me though so i felt so safe.
In 2001 i got very bad pain in my feet. It was so bad i could not stand up. Laura found me in the field and she was very upset. She and some friends made me stand up and walk to my stable. After i moved one foot i just wanted to lie down again, but they wouldn't let me. Laura was leading me. She kept stroking my head and telling me everything was going to be ok.
The vet arrived and looked over my stable door. I was layed in a nice deep bed and felt a little better. The vet said something about the hunt kennels but as Laura burst into tears i assumed we wern't going hunting. The vet made me stand up and took pictures of my feet. She said it didn't look good i had rotation in all four feet i don't know what that ment but Laura burst into tears again.
That night she slept in the stable with me. She kept stroking me and telling me everything was going to be ok. I could tell by the look in her eyes she wasn't to shore that it would be. Over the next few weeks i started to feel alittle better and i could stand up. Laura made me stand with all four feet in buckets of water. I thought this was very strange to begin with but it did make my feet feel better. After what seemed like an eturnaty we where back riding again. Jumping and hunting and we also started doing this boring stuff in the school called Dressage.
Six years passed we where having fun. Suddenly one day Laura dissapered.

What a lovely story. Lucy has had quite a life, fortunately most of it good with you. But where dod you disappear to? Next instalment please!

Three and a half weeks passed. I had no idea where she had gone but someother people where feeding me. I had my shoes taken off by the farrior man. I was getting worried I had never been apart from Laura for more than a few days. I kept asking Jo the young cob i was living with where she was as last time I had seen her she was taking him for a ride. Jo came back but Laura didn't. One day i was led to her caravan where she lived. The door opened and there was Laura stood in the doorway. Her arm had a funny green thing on and she was standing on one leg, being held up by two sticks. It turned out the young cob Jo had got frightened by some cows and he had reared up and gone over backwards. Laura had hit the road so hard she had broken her hip and wrist. She had been in hospital for all the time she was gone. She came across the field everyday on her crutches to see me and told me she couldn't wait to ride me again.
One day i had a very bad pain in my foot. It wasn't the same as last time and it was only in one foot. The vet came up and said she thought my leg may be broken.
But luckly i only had a very bad foot abcess. The vet had never seen one so big. Laura was still on her sticks and walking on one foot. Her boss wouldn't let anyone else come up to do my foot so Laura had to do it herself. She got me out the field and tied me to the fence. I stood so still so she could balance on one leg and change my poltice. One time her boss came over to watch. Once Laura had done my foot her boss took her crutches off her and told her to walk without them. Laura Used me as a cruthch. I let her lean on me to go and get her crutches back.
Once she was walking again Laura got me in and tacked me up. I could tell she was a little nervous. It was her first ride since her fall. She needn't have worried I looked after her. We soon got back to normal and i was so happy to be riding again.
Shortly after this we moved home again.

Oh my god im addicted to this.... what a lovely story, im almost in tears reading this.

What happened next??

I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to wrap a pair of crutches around your old boss' head!

Our new home was great. Laura got to spend loads of time with me and the best part was we got to go hunting everyweek leading a small child and i got to show what a star i was.
Last summer we had a fantastic time. We qualified for the Veteran Horse Sociaty rigonal finals and lots of other showing, Did a hunter trial, a few sponsourd rides and endurance rides and we won a huge trophy in a handy pony class. Laura cryed when we won that trophy there was 45 in the class.
Everything was going well for us and the hunting season started. I was going great guns hunting several times a week during autumn hunting. I was very naughty one day and took off at a very fast gallop. Poor Dudley who we where leading could hardly keep up but i was having so much fun at the time i didn't notice. Laura steared me into a hedge as everytime she pulled the reins i just went faster.
I developed a cough so Laura gave me my medicen for my COPD. It didn't seem to work, Then i developed some large masses on the base of my neck and other parts of my body. The vets where a bit confused as to what they where. One day Laura got me in to ride and i had Blood coming out both my eyes. Laura got very upset and called the vet out again. They gave me all sorts of medicen and ran all sorts of tests but they could not work out what was wrong with me. I was feeling fine in myself so couldn't realy see what all the fuss was about.
One day i did feel unwell and didn't eat my food. I think this made Laura panic as she phoned the vets and shouted and cryed down the phone. The next thing i knew i was in the trailer on my way to hospital.
I stayed in for three days. I had loads more tests and was as good as gold. All the staff loved me ofcourse but i was so glad when Laura came to take me home.
Afew days passed while we wated for the results. When they came back the vet told Laura he had some good news and some bad news. The good news was they thought i didn't have cancer, The bad news was i have Amyloidosis a very very very rare illness that even the top vets know very little about. The only treatment is steroids and ofcourse there is a risk of my laminitas especialy as i had it so bad the first time. Laura would not stop crying and cuddling me all that night. The next day she looked at me and asked "are you ready to give up?" I looked back at her, "because i'm not" she said.
The vets started treatment but they didn't think i would make it to Christmas. Laura put me on a diet which i thought was very mean but it was to try to stop me getting Lami so i guess she did the right thing. She carried on riding me and i was very naughty and even bucked her off and went home without her once. Oopps. Luckly she just laughed.
I made it passed christmas and had a little holiday because i had lost so much weight. I got very bored and escaped from my field afew times just to make life intresting. It worked and Laura is now back riding me. She has even said if i behave myself she will take me to a sponsourd ride this Sat. I can't wait. I'm so happy and can't wait to see what we can do this summer. I'm gonna try to prove them all wrong again and stick around a while.
Why am i called the one in 8 million pony you may ask?
Well thats the chances of someone having Amyloidosis.
But thats me why go with the flow if your gonna do something why not do it properly and if your gonna have something wrong why have something boring and normal. LOL

Oh my God! My heart was in my mouth reading that last post. I thought it was going to have a terrible ending. What a fab little pony you are Lucy and so lucky that Laura found you.
Hope you have a lovely summer together. :) You deserve it.

What a fantastic story, i cant stop :D

Lucy is a true fighter and super star, hope you have a fantastic summer and many more happy years together.

What a fantastic pony she has been for you, and fantastic owner you have been to her. Lovely!! :)

Thankyou everyone. Glad you liked it and thanks for reading to the end. Lucy is a prity remarkable pony. We have had so many adventures. Way to many to put them all in the story those are the main things though. She is my whole world and life just wouldn't be the same without her. She is one tough cokkie so i'm hoping she will be around a while yet so we can have lots more adventures and make the story even longer. :p ;) :D :D
P.S I wasn't going anywhere It takes me that long to type out the next bit i'm a bit slow on the computer :( LOL.

Thanks Ginger_nut I realy feel i am the luckyone though that these ponies choose to trust me when they didn't trust anyone else.
Lucy is atleast 20. When i bought her i was told she was 8. When the vet looked at her a year later she said she was atleast 9 but prob a few years older. Ofcourse when they are young you want them to be as young as poss so i said she was nine. Her passport says she's 20 but she's prob more 22/23. Although she still thinks she's 5 even after all that :p :D

that was amezin!!! i 3rd wrapping crutches round the bosses head!

LOL. Thanks everyone who sugested this. I worked at that yard for 5 1/2 years without a day off sick and the amount of un paid overtime i did
Last i heard no one else would work there Can't say i'm suprised. I sometimes i wonder how i stayed there so long.
