I've just received a PDF from the Vet. Clinic which is completely beyond belief. They say that they didn't demand immediate payment for the euthanasia and that I should see my GP and request counselling!
I'm not going to reply for the following reasons:
1) I don't plan to have any further companion animals.
2) Any reply I'm minded to make would not be polite. Although, perhaps I should reply thanking them for their communication, the contents of which have been noted
I think 2b) above will suit.

FFS !! I am so angry on your behalf. How rude and condescending.
Definitely a formal complaint surely.
Thank you. I've run out of steam for anything further to do with this practice.
I don't plan to have any more companion animals - so I will not need to have any contact with small animal veterinary practices.
I've sent them the 2b response.

How incredibly rude!
I should take a few days to mull over your response and then write back with evidence, such as the entry on your bank statement and explain that you do not appreciate being lied to or being told that you have made up your allegations. I assume that you have kept the request for the historical amount?

Initially this make me feel speechless, or rather, there's so many words tumbling around in my head, that I don't know which ones to pick. I'll just have to ditto what @nagblagger said, that I hope you keep everything they sent you for the time being, because even though you at the moment just want to put all of this behind you, you might change your mind some time from now.

Take care of yourself. {{{{{{Hugs}}}}}}

Thanks, all.
I have just had a "life could be a lot worse" moment. Kent Air Ambulance was hovering above the River Medway just above my wheelhouse. Hopped up to see what was what. After fifteen minutes going up and down over about a hundred yards of river, they flew off.
Checked with the our Residents of PMM Facebook page and discovered that some poor lad had jumped off the down-river Medway Bridge and drowned.
Presumably, they were looking for his body.

Has the payment gone through from your bank? Send them a screenshot from your online banking?
Yes, it did. I'm so fed up by their bullying and lack of understanding that I'm just going to stop opening any more messages/email from them. I think the email that I sent to their Chairperson has rattled their cage a bit too loudly for their liking.
Any more aggravation and I will think of something else to annoy them with!

Thank you. I don't do online banking. My mobile is a veritable antique, and I worry about it being hacked. YO is very tech-savvy and has a state-of-the-art iPhone and her phone was hacked. She does mobile banking and was in a right state about it, as you can imagine.

Oh dear, you are not having a good time. Hugs, and I hope things pick up. I wonder if the vet's letter was a clumsy attempt to nudge you towards grief counselling? Whatever it was, draw a line under it and talk it out with Old Horse. Spending time with my Old Dobbin soon puts the world to rights.

Yet another threatening phone call from the vets!
Apparently the vets didn't taken the money from my bank when the euthanasia took place. I had the money available then, and I have informed Petplan who have filled in the form for me over the phone. I don't have the money now, until next Monday, pension day.
I'm getting so confused and upset. I'm writing things down as I'm told them, by both Petplan and the vets, but the grief and the M E brain fog are getting the better of me, and part of me wants to opt out entirely.

Can I suggest that you ask YO to deal with the vet on your behalf. None of what they are saying makes sense.

Sarcasm alert! Inconveniently, YO is in hospital having assessment for serious operation! So, she's not available at the moment.
When I spoke to her yesterday about the matter, she was very snarly, due to being in a lot of pain. I made her a cup of tea, agreed to take her sorted-out rubbish back to our yard, gave Old Horse an apple and a premium groom and slunk off.

That’s so confusing. They produced the card machine, you put your card in and it was apparently approved.

I’d ring your bank tomorrow and ask them if the amount has been debited.

So they're basically saying that all the pre visit talk about that you had to be able to pay up front on the day, never happened. And they haven't taken any money neither from you, nor Petplan, even though you had the money on that day.

It's seems like it's time to ask, if not your YO because she's temporarily out of action, then maybe your son (even though you've said he's busy and lives far away) @Ratface , for help with dealing with this mess. This can't be good for your own neither physical nor mental health, especially not when it comes on top of your grief over losing Madame Carrie Cat.

Or even the cat’s previous owner.

It hasn't, and I thought it had. I'm getting more upset and confused every time they call. The insurance aren't going to pay in full, but won't say how much. Less 18% I think. The claim is now being processed.
Apparently, cremation is never paid for. The vets have now agreed not to chase me for payment, whilst saying "Stop being upset!". If only.

If they call again tell them you’ll settle the remainder of the bill once Pet Plan have settled the claim. And should they phone you again you’ll put it in the hands of your solicitor and sue them for harassment.
