Has anyone ever ordered anything from a Tack shop in the U.S via the web?

If so, how long did it take for you to receive your order? was the shipping very costly?

What do you do re paying Customs?

Sorry for the all the questions but I've not done this before but would like to buy some things that I need for the horses (liniment and poss some Cortaflex etc.....)

Has anyone heard of/dealt with Schneider Saddlery? or know of any good, reputable U.S tacks shops to use...

Thanks for your help.

I did do this on one occasion but got severely stung by customs duty. You usually have to pay the courier this money when its delivered. I would not do it again as it was so costly. The postage rates are not too bad from USA but I ended up paying almost another 100 euro in customs, VAT etc.

Good question and I would also be interested in the reply. I tried to order some stuff last week, but that particular company, and its not the one you mentioned, didnt ship outside the USA,I am interested in Fly repellents, made by Farnum and possibly a hat that I havent seen anywhere else.
Hope someone can help

I want some of the farnam tri tec and the simplfly I spoke to the lady who is importing the farnam stuff and she is trying to get approval on the fly spray at the moment , I was chatting to someone at a AQHA show who told me not to mail order that sort of stuff he said people were trying to mail order wormers and the customs were confescating it and the consensus was they would do the same with fly spray..

Be very careful if buying supplements and potions from the US, some of there items will have ingredients that are banned over here.

A friend of mine imported a case of Cortaflex for her mare and was then told that it had a banned substance in it, if fed the horse wouldn't be able to enter the food chain when it died/PTS, as it was an elderly horse she didn't feed it and had to burn the entire lot!

Makes me laugh how is it safe in the US but not in Europe !!! bloddy medling unelected EU turds, I would have enjoyed useing the cortaflex !!!!

Yes, I've done it successfully . I ordered because the exchange rate was really favourable at the time (2:1) but got hammered by duty which spoiled things a bit. You can't predict how much the duty will be so it can be chancy.
